Ipod hookup?

Is there any way that anyone has found to play and Ipod other than doing major surgery ? I don't like FM transmitters because I travel a lot and always end up losing the station. There is no Output on it as stock, and I am scared to try and get an after market CD player because I don't think I will find one that fits in the circle plate of the console , and I don't know anything about car CD player brands, etc. and would rather just have my Ipod.
Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

the audiolink is what i used before upgrading the whole HU. I would recommend it to anyone looking to use their Ipod with the stock HU>

I just installed the OEM iPod adapter, not the best since it doesn't show you the artists, but it works. Now, taking the dash apart is a BITCH....my right hand looks like I shoved it in a garbage disposal

I installed the Axxess iPod/Aux/XM. Works great, the only problem was taking the HU out. It is not easy to remove, but now that I have done it next time will be a snap. Although I could not get one of the two nuts I took out by mistake to go back in (mounts for the A/C) it took me about 2 hrs to remove and then replace the HU.
