Houston Northside Ride

I'm toying with the idea of a north-side ride sometime soon. Not a long ride, maybe just from the Woodlands mall up to Papas on the lake. We could play some volly and pool or darts depending on the weather.

Later that day I could even host a small BBQ and some Halo back at my place. I have two boxes, two projectors and an additional SVIDEO TV. I could throw some chicken or burgers on the grill, but I wouldn't want to host more then probably 10 people or so in the evening (like 5 of ya'll and your date / your wife / a friend).

Anyone here in Houston up for this? If Halos not your bag, you could still join us for Papas at the lake.

Lemme know if there is any interest and we can start coordinating a date.

I might be up for it, depending on the date. I've also got several friends who would love to play system-link Halo. We've been loving having 2 65" HDTVs in a house for the past couple weeks. So depending on how many respond, I can fill RX-8 and Halo seats.

DrKill,

What gives man? No post or invite? Or did I miss it?

It's OK, today was my day out with the wife. 2 yr anniversary.

Eradicator,

Sounds like a plan. Can you guys post a tentative date that you would like to shoot for?

I've got the projectors / TVs here to system link up to five boxes. Anything above that and someone's gotta bring another display.

But thats cool. I just want to keep the number of people down a little the first invite over to my place so I can get to know ya'll a little before I invite more over. But, obviously as many that want to go on the ride would be welcome.

Eradicator, have you ever used a program called Cartographer? If not, check out the users guide and the effects guides. I wrote this program and it completely changes the way you play Halo multi-player. And yes, everything does work over system-link.

Chat with ya all later.

That's probably the weekend that I'll be celebrating my birthday, but if that weekend works for everyone else, I'll just celebrate it on whichever day we don't do the ride.

I'm game for then.

Alright, I'm going to go ahead and solidfy this. The date will be Saturday, November 22nd. I say we plan to meet at the Woodlands Mall at 3:00 PM. Meet in the back parking lot by the new Cheesecake Factory. We'll wait until 3:15 for stragglers before heading north on 45 for Lake Conroe (and Papas).

If you have an FRS radio (Family Radio Service), bring it. These are the standard 15 or 22 channel walkie-talkies you can pick up at your local Wal-Mart for as cheap as $15. We'll start on Chanel 7 and move around if there's outside chatter.

You can PM me if you wan't my cell # too.

Please reply here if you think you'll make it. Tell me if you're planning on the ride, Halo / BBQ or both. And let me know how many people (including yourself).

Eradicator, you still up for some Halo? Still have some friends that wanna play?

Well damn ya'll. I've been asking for a date and only Eradicator replied with the 22nd.

Do you still wanna go on the 22nd Eradicator? Or should we look for another date?

I can go THIS weekend (11/15) but you'll have to let me know ASAP. If we can't do it this weekend or next, it will probably be sometime in January or Febuary (due to the holidays obviously).

I know scheduling stuff for the RX-7 club has been tough recently... basically with finals (college folk) football (sports types) tons of outdoor festivals (our only 1.5 months of nice outside weather) and the advent of the holiday season upon us.. the next 2 months are pretty slim pickings..

I wouldn't be able to do this weekend. I'm hosting a Halo party Friday night and then there's a LAN party on Saturday.

Ok. So, should we still shoot for the 22nd or just call it off?

Well, to be honest, a 2x RX-8 group drive isn't exactly what I envisioned as a group drive :p I've got a couple friends that are interested in coming along, just to ride with me and then play Halo. So we could still plan for it ... but I think it'd be a small turnout. *shrug*

Well, I'm still up for it, if nothing more then for a BBQ and Halo. Hell, even if it's nothing more then two RX8s parked outside an lots of Halo inside.

I agree that two cars does not qualify a 'ride', but we could still head up there or just call that part off. Whatever. I can probably get 6 players on my end. That nearly fills two boxes alone. I can probably even get 3 projectors setup too... If I can just figure out a good wall for the 3rd one.

Whatever, I'll leave it up to you. Just let me know by, say, the 19th.

Maybe in the spring we can do a real ride. I just don't think there are a whole lof of RX8 owners in Houston that are also on the board. And it seems that some of them that are are also involved in the RX7 stuff. It's gonna take time.

Ha ha ha. No, of course not. I think it's just going to take time and more people like me that are new to the 8 and don't have history with the 7s.

Historys cool too, but I don't like competing with the 7s for riders! :D

:P

i was just kidding too.. well since you guys are just getting started and (like we have already seen) schedules are crazy.. mroe events with more popel are always fun.. its not like we have alot of people ... usually only about 10-15 at a meeting or event.... so remember that RX-7 club meetings and events are always open for our little or big brother however you wanna think of it...
