Houston Autocross 10/7
6 days from now there will be a Houston autocross event at Gulf Greyhound Park. I was under the impression that some 8 owners other than myself were going to be there to compete. However, as the date gets closer, the "sure - I'll do it"'s have slowly turned into "I don't think I wanna do it anymore"'s.
If you're interested, all the information you need is here
http://www.houscca.com/
(goto the "solo" section)
Last time only one RX-8 showed up. We can do better than that! I'm going to be running early in the morning, but if anyone here is going to show up I'll gladly stick around and watch some of our own show everyone what B-Stock is all about

You would probably be in STB with me. You better get some new tires before showing up because there's no way in hell they'll let you run with threads showing...
EDIT:
as for switching cars, not a chance in hell. Sorry - but no one rides Victoria but me

wish I could go and represent the RX8 community in Houston, however my car just got in a wreck today. Some idiot turned left when the people going straight had the right of way and tboned me. He just entered the intersection when I was going through! He had no license and no insurance!!! Check out the pics of my car in the "Lounge" area.

lol no - you goofed.
It's always the first Sunday of the month.
I'll post my shameful videos on youtube later today. The only ones I managed to record are my 2 worst runs

OK -
1) The video of my 3rd & 4th run were uploaded to youtube many hours ago and should be "processed" and ready for viewing.
2) I'm at work right now, and youtube is blocked, so I can't get to the video at the moment to post a link.
3) Like I said, I uploaded the video many hours ago, and don't remember exactly what I named it, nor what tags I gave it. I posted it using a friends account - "Nostalg*a Cosplay" - and it's titled something along the lines of:
½mv² AutoCross (RX8)
If you were smart enough to find these forums, you've got enough brains to find the video on your own.
www.youtube.com.
Go.
I'm assuming you're talking about this:
http://www.houscca.com/solo/results07/07REG10R.TXT
What you see is dirty lies.
If you watch the video I posted of my 3rd run you'll notice I cut the course BADLY on my 3rd run. I was so worried about taking the next turn correctly that I got tunnel vision and completely skipped a slolam section. How no one saw this I don't know - it was painfully blatent. My best time was 70.069, NOT 68.528 - that should be a DNF.
The 4th run requires a bit of explanation...
I started off not knowing that I had cut the course in my 3rd run, so I was thinking in my head that if I could improve a little on the first slolam and on the big sweeping left U-turn, and just keep up my previous pace in the other turns, I could shave another ~2 seconds off my time and win my very first time out!
So, naturally, I put all this pressure and expectation on myself and came FLYING out of the first turn into the slolam...
*KA-THUNK!*
...and plowed right over the first cone of the slolam. "That's fine," I quickly told myself, "If I just keep a cool head and do everything else correctly, I can still get a lower time!"....
*KA-THUNK!*
...as I plow right over the second cone of the slolam.
(at this point of the video, I very audibly yell "DAMNIT!!!")
5 seconds into my run, I'm already pissed and certainly not enjoying myself. As I'm rounding the first big turn I think to myself "You know what? There's freakin' gravel EVERYWHERE, the ground is SOAKED, and there's no way in HELL I'm going to beat my best time now... SO LET'S JUST HAVE FUN!"
(watch closely enough and you can see as soon as I start the second slolam I take my hand off the steering wheel to turn off the DSC)
I've never turned the DSC off since I bought the car. Yes, I even left it on for my first 3 runs - I know I'm a craptastic driver. Proof of this can be seen when after a left turn I go 60-70 degrees sideways to the track. Through some miracle I managed to recover...
...which was quickly followed by going 40-50 degrees sideways to the track after the following turn.
It doesn't look all that bad in the video because of the angle it was shot. If you pause the video at the apex of my skids and look at where my car in facing in relation to where the track is going (and remember that the ground is 70% wet gravel), you'll get a good laugh out of how close I came to wiping out.

hahahahahaha, I haven't even finished the clip, but wtf do you have the laser detector up for? Loose stuff in my car lately has been driving me crazy ever since I got springs, the stiffness sends little items either flying too some other part of the car or too cause noise. I would've taken every single thing in my car that's loose out....
