Hot weather and RX-8's don't mix

Anyone else find that when the temprature gets up pretty high that your engine starts to sputter and almost die while at a stop?

Whenever it's above about 90 degree's outside my car starts making this weird noise...The RPM's will go up and down up and down, sometimes it even stalls out, and there's a pretty noticeable loss of power/sluggish movement from Low RPM's to mid range when going from a dead stop.

Anyone else have this same type of issue in warmer weather?

mine did this, got a new engine, doesn't do it anymore. Pretty much ALL issues I had as far as idle, stalling, bogging, running like **** etc etc were fixed by replacing the engine. Prior to that I had ALOT of problems, even in cooler weather. I don't think this is heat related, unless you've already been swapped, you might consider taking it in for a compression/ignition test

Yeah I haven't had it replaced yet, but it souds like I need to I suppose.

I'll contact my Mazda dealer tomorrow and see what needs to be done...

Supposedly they ran a test on it the last time I took it in and said the compression on it was fine. I have a feeling that's all BS though, I've taken it in 3-4 times with this same problem and all they do is flash the CPU and then it'll be fine for a week or so then go back to do doing the same thing.

I have a feeling they're just pulling my leg and waiting for my warranty to expire and then go BLAM you need a new engine.

Buuuut that's like the only Mazda dealership I know of in the area, I guess I can check the phone book and see if there's one pretty close to Lubbock. Although it may be a pain in the *** to drive a far distance for a different dealer, I'm starting to think it's what I really need to do.

If that's the case make a road trip into DFW, visit at BJs, and then take your car over to Hiley Mazda in hurst. They are pretty good with handling service requests quickly and Brant would probably tell you up front if you needed a new engine in the next month or two, wouldn't surprise me if he would go ahead and order you one since they are on back order for 3-6 weeks.

Oh, I also noticed the car would drag in hot temps, but since I put on the REVi Intake all those issues have been solved.

Eh, I'm not 100% sure I could warrant a 6 hour road trip to dallas to have someone look at my car.

Long trip so I'd have to get money from my folks to make it but I guess if I get shafted this time around from Mears I'll speak to my dad and see if he can give me some money. I get 3 days off every week so I have the time to get down there, I'd just hate to get there and hear the same **** but on a different day.

Oh well, it's worth a shot I suppose

Taking my car in this next week, I'll keep you guys posted and let you know what they say.

your engine is probably done.

It has been 95 plus here all week and the car runs just fine...
