I just missed the high speed car chase in Houston this morning. Turns out the chasee was driving an RX7.

You can see video and the crash on www.kprc.com

of ALL the things to run from....

Houston police said the chase started when an officer tried to stop the driver because he was allegedly not wearing his seat belt

If I had a felon warrant, I think I would dive the speed limit and wear seatbelts to try to stay a bit "off the radar".

From the vid, it looked like the rear end was munched and the back window was missing....the vid quality was not that great tho.

Seems like a good time to go faster than 70 or 80... If you're gonna run.. atleast have fun with it.

pretty good... braking while turning though.. bad XD i have to say, he almost lost the birds a couple times. but he definitely took advantage of the small 7. can u imagine if this guy had a turboed rx7?...

ugh. Speeds up to 80 mph?!

I go faster than that in school zones while drinking coffee and shaving my eyebrows.

YUP, that would have been a SHORT chase because he'd run out of gas in about 15 mins.

I woulda jumped off the bridge in the end, perhaps on top of another car. Assuming if it's even possible for me to spin out considering my l33t driving skillz0rz

Track day on Houston freeways in a Rx7. He does need better tires.

With the curbs and medians he was taking, I don't think he was too worried about saving the car! Hope he is not an RX8Club subscriber.

From the other vids, this guy knew the back roads fairly well. The idea to run during rush hour (or run at all) is just about stupid in Houston. During rush hour, 8mph is good...much less 80.

Alright who in the Houston club was that? '86-'88 silver nonturbo, with a white hood, and aftermarket rims.

Does look familar, maybe he was at the last Houston meet. Its nice to see someone running from the cops in a somewhat capable car.

FWIW they only identified it as 'I think it's a Nissan' so at least the only people who will associate with Mazdas are Nissan and Mazda owners.

Also the female newscaster said he clipped a car. I don't think he did but that video wouldn't let me rewind.

Dude's a total retard but it does answer that constant question can my car outrun the cops? The answer, as always, is no.

from your intial take off to running away, u have probably a window of about max 15 min before you can lose the cops (before the bird is scrambled). assuming they haven't got a good image of you or ur licence plate.

hint, honda civic and accords tend to be good at running away, social stealth ftw. i've ran from cops a couple times, all before they turned on their light though.but this was back in my green accord... very blendable.. XD see cop, realize they are gonna pull u over.. evasive manuver time..
