Guess it was my turn... got rear ended yesterday..

On my way to the corporate party, I got rear ended. I had to stop quick because the guy in front of me stopped quick. The 8's breaks rule. The guy behind me in his hyundai stopped in time, but the chick behind him nailed him and pushed him into me.
The damage is minimal. It looks like I'll be replacing the lower black plastic section of the rear bumper, but the car is so dirty right now from all the rain that I can't really tell how bad it was. It looks to be mostly cosmetic damage, but the car will be at the dealer on the 27th for the recalls and I'll just have them tell me how bad it is.

It's just a nuissance at this point..

Oh well. I've got all the insurance info and I'll be calling it in on monday. Now i'm sitting in DFW waiting for my plane to chicago which has been delayed an hour. Thankfully, I have a laptop and wireless access.

Hopefully I'll make it up in time for Danny and Jacky's wedding
If not, I'm gonna sleep in my tux :b

Sucks dude. I hope it doesn't take long. That's the thing with these kind of things...you just want it over with quick.

And the 8's breaks are too good. The brakes alone have saved me alone from some things most other cars wouldn't. Even though I probably wouldn't be doing those things in the average car...

Well, the brakes on the 8 are awesome except for the squealing. I'm in chicago until tuesday so I really cant do much about it until I get back. I guess I can call in the claim to the other 2 insurance companies.
I just dont feel like being on the phone right now.

Fortunately the damage is minor.
They're boarding the plane so I'm shutting down.

I was hit in the rear about a month ago. Stop-Go traffic on I290. The rear bumper cover is all one piece except for the exhaust shrouds. Estimates for me range from 750 (her ins. co.) to 950 (my body shop). I need a new bumper cover & a exhaust shroud. I haven't got the work done yet.

Let us know when you get in town. Maybe we can setup a small get together. PM me and/or RSD.

That's what I wanted, but apparently the Mazdaspeed rear is just a rear diffuser that attaches to the stock bumper. And it's like $800.

Well, the only part of the bumper that looks damaged is the lack plastic part, but we'll see if that's accurate.

Sorry to hear about your accident. The body is pretty tough under the plastic bumper cover. It would take a darn hard hit to mess it up - and if it did get messed, you'd probably know it. Good luck and let us know.

My front left had squealed since I got mine, so when I had my 8 at Town North last week, I printed up this TSB and had them check it out. They said my rotor was actually warped, so they machined it and replaced both sets of pads on the front, all for free. Best of all, the squeal is gone. Something worth checking out.

Had my "crap my pants" momement when the fear of getting nailed from behind almost becomes reality

Coming home from work the other night, i decided to take a different route then i normally do, the roads were wet from all the rain we've been having. no big deal. I'm stop on a steep grade at an intersection facing down hill when a toyota mr2 come screeching down the hill and slides within inches of me and narrowly misses me by sliding off into the grass patch on a day care center. He slide another 2-3 car lengths past me and stop just short of a telephone pole. . . . .so yeah, now i'm really paranoid of being rear-ended

Ever since I had the exact same situation(Rush hour traffic, quick stop. Mustang two cars back slammed into the car behind me, it into me, my 8 into the truck in front of me..)

Cosmetic damage to front and rear body panels.. I paid the difference to get MS kit and now I'm actually partially glad it happened! Now I've gotten the full MS kit at a fraction of the cost it would have been out of pocket. However I have this looming fear every time I see someone coming up in my rear view mirror...

Well, here's my update.
The driver who caused the accident filed the claim. Her insurance contacted me today and said that they would fix everything for me and I had 2 options, either go get service king to do it right away or i could let the dealer do it and it might take a bit longer, but that's up to me.
So it looks like this one is settled.
We'll see what happens when it's all done.

if you're not at fault you can decide where to get the work done as well as the estimate. At least that's how it is in oklahoma.

Take the car to multiple shops and get estimates done, find out who's flexible with you paying difference out-of-pocket or find the shop that quotes the highest estimate. Remember that you have no agreement with their insurance company and you wouldnt want to take the car to one of their "approved" or related shops but one of your own choice. You don't owe her insurance company anything.
