I have a question Scalli, are you having to remove the passenger airbag? Or for space, could you remove the passenger airbag?

Note to self: do not ride in N-O's passenger seat.

The only seat I have for you Dazy will always be the backseat.

I was just saying, for the space you could remove the air bag on the passenger side. I wouldn't mind removing the passenger airbag if that would allow me to get a flush mounted LED display and then you could hook up a slim PS2 in the glovebox for the passenger. Just a thought.

I won't mess with any airbags. Now "fun bags" well that's another thing altogether. Here are a couple of pics showing how much space there is to work with under the stock no-NAV dash cover. Things are too tight and if I was leaving it like this I would have used a 2.5" laptop drive instead of the 3.5" desktop. Believe it or not this would be a pretty liveable system with the smaller HD and an external firewire DVD under the pass seat.
But since I like overkill I have to do the dash mods and make this whole thing self-contained and more attractive from a marketable standpoint.

Forget getting a bigger mainboard under there. Nothing that is not low-wattage either. There is not much room for the heat to disipate.
BTW Day I saw your car today when I met with Anthony up at Gotham to talk about his carbon fiber work.
I'm sure glad you weren't hurt because that was a helluva jolt

Yes the GPS was turned on there and somehow I was doing 1 MPH If you look at the second pic there is a blue plastic box sitting on the top right closest to the windshield. That is the GPS receiver.
The white plastic looking box behind the harddrive is the USB wireless nic. It works like a champ. :D I am going to put an override switch in the car so I can turn the system on when the car is shut off. I can remotely access it from inside the house and transfer files and shitola

I was wondering, is that dash mounted speaker magnetically shielded?

Thanks Scalli. Do you know if anything has been done yet? I saw Martin on Fri and I'm going up there Wed after work... I don't think parts have been ordered and I don't know if anything can be fixed without the parts, but there's no hurt in hoping.

Your comp looks great! Good job!

He had not done anything from what I can tell. He did say that the adjusters estimate is way short. He wants to get the hood replaced because it has a bow in it. He thinks he can get the wheels replaced and named off some wheels he thinks would look good and be a little wider in the rear.

Second question Scalli, if the speaker isn't magnetically shielded what are the chances that the magnetic field might have some interference with the harddrive and lcd monitor.

CRT monitors go nuts but LCD's are okay. I think the HD is far enough away from it but only time will tell.

Thanks bro. I am going to pick up a hardwired FM modulator for the time being so I can listen to my MP3's. That is not ideal but it will get me by while I wait and help me to tweak the functionality.

The screen is pretty stable but if I left it like it is I would reinforce the back side where it screws in a little more. It cn be setup so it could be removed but the way it is someone would have to have a schematic if they cut the cable unless they wanted to remove everything it took to get the cover off while dealing with the alarm. By that time my Glock would have already took care of the problem

Do you have an external keyboard/mouse? What you ought to do is install terminal sevices, the you could do everything from inside :D Updates /sofware install :D

Yep I got a mini-keyboard and an optical mouse for now. I will get a wireless presentation type later on tho. Per post #1159 I am using TS to do that For now it is a bit of a pain in the ***. until I put in an override switch so I do not have to leave the ignition on to have the PC on.
I also need to go into the power settings and make the hard drive torn off after 5 minutes in case I get in the house and forget I left it on. Since the monitor will not be on the override the mainboard won't pull too much power.
The smart power supply monitors the battery power and will cut all power to the unit if the battery drops below 11.5 volts. But I hate to rely on that.
I set the display setting in the "accessability options to "High Contrast- Large" to make everything bigger and more defined since daytime LCD viewing bites compared to nighttime. That made a huge difference.
