FT. worth crew meeting this tuesday!!!
I am not sure if I will make it tonight. The touchscreen LCD came in for my car PC yesterday. It is badass :D I got my motherboard over the weekend and some of the other stuff is still coming in.
As a matter of factly Joseph ordered me a dash piece to mount the LCD and DVD in and the mainboard and HD on the bottom. It should come in Thursday. I am going to fab it up and get Bulger to knock me off a carbon fiber mold from it
So depending on what all parts come in today will determine if I make it out tonight. I got the OS loaded and the MP3, GPS, XM radio, DVD/CD app loaded and it works great on the coffee table
There is a guy on here, Overload, that makes a convertor to run it into the AUX. I am still waiting for him to reply to an email.

I just wanted to say to those that missed it, Richard did bring out his rig and a very nicely done Trike and 4Runner. His rig was hooked up as well. He brought us all t-shirts and calculator. Jenkins be sure to again tell him "thanks" he really didn't have to do that. I took some pics of the trike and 4runner and will post those after I down load them from my phone. (not tonight though - still a little tired). We missed all those that didn't show up and we did get to meet a new member and his wife. He's the very proud owner of a white rx8.

Touchscreen- Lilliput 7"- $275 shipped
512 MEG DDR PC2100 memory- maybe $50 tops (had one already)
200 GIG Harddrive- $100
USB wireless NIC- $22 w/tax
special power supply with shutdown controller- $85 shipped
extra dash piece- $115
slimline IDE convertor cable- $12 shipped
slimline DVD drive- $70 (already had one)
USB GPS unit with sofware- $80 shipped
So that is $990'ish in parts including stuff I already had. Things I did not really need was the dash piece but without having one to fab with in spare time it would make the job a lot less convenient. Definately worth it to me.
Getting the carbon fiber part replicated and the AUX interface convertor are the main hurdle at this point.
Once finished we are going to try and produce plug in ready to go units that will just require changing out the cover and plugging in the AUX port on the head unit and possibly a power feed.

But if it times out we could do that.
Maybe Dazy can run the camera for the install pics?

I'm not sure if I could make a killin' at it. The jury is still out on getting the carbon fiber dash pieces made. I have no desire to do that ****
Anthony Bulger is good but he is not cheap.
If I can find a good Linux based app so I could use a free OS and frontend app (like Frodoplayer above) that is really user friendly it would really be nice. Otherwise I would have to add OS costs as well
But overall I think I could hit a price that most would consider well worth a really easy system as opposed to researching and getting all the components together etc.
This will have dash accessible USB and firewire ports so you can feed it from flash drives, card readers, external harddrives, etc. Plus with the wireless you could hit the internet from hotspots. The screen is great for alot of stuff but small text would beat you down quick. Small screen PDA type apps are something I want to look into.
