Don't know yet what caused the failure. It's one of the side seals on the front rotor from what I have gathered. So now I am just looking at my options.

No, I haven't always been in San Antonio, I just moved back after being in the NW for the past 4 yrs.

If I can sell it for a reasonable amount of money, then yeah. If it doesn't sell by the time I get my car back then I may reconsider putting it back on. But you already know I am not gonna shy away from a boosted car. I look at my other option as simple an upgrade

HAHA touche man.

I'd still love to know what can cause a front side seal to fail, other than manufacturers defect....

I talked with Ray about it, he says maybe just too much heat causing the seal to expand and there not being enough clearance for it.

Yep. Heat kills rotaries for sure, and of course adding boost raises the operating temperatures. They already run pretty hot as it is. Were you running a larger radiator? Water Wetter? I'm assuming it was a FMIC. Vented hood?

Sorry for all the questions, but I pilfered all of your posts and didn't find the answers. I'm curious.

I was running a water methanol kit, and a vented hood. But I lived in Washington State at the time, so temps outside were never really over 90 degrees so I didnt get the radiator upgraded at the time.

IMO, prior to even thinking of a turbo kit in Texas you need a Cobb AP (S1 Rx-8), Ron Davis or Griffin radiator, Mazmart Waterpump, Mazmart thermostat, Mazmart Oil pressure mod (S1 Rx-8), SOHN adapter (S1 RX-8), and you need to address oil cooling either by opening up the area behind the coolers or by going to a different oil cooler setup all together such as my Fluidyne oil cooler setup with a real oil thermostat.

We are talking about on an RX-8 right?

Possible for it to run, yes. But run well, No. Unless you wanna buck out the Hymee pro Tuner but support is limited. E manage is crap and and so other other options left over.
