Angry Frustrated @ Hiley Mazda of Hurst

Ok... so everyone that has met me has probably heard me complain about my stupid squeeky breaks. I bought my 05 last July with 26k miles on it. I first complained about the breaks on 9-29-07 which they said they couldnt replicate... fine whatever. I complain again on 11-17-07, same response can't replicate....

So I go in today for a number of issues, of course one among them complaining AGAIN about my breaks. (another complaint was tire pressue and come to find out I have a nail right on the edge of the firewall that so say is "unpatchable"...grrr) So they finally finish at 4:30 (dropped it off at 1:30 for oil change state inspection and 35k maintaince.... which btw I think is an oil change and a fluid check at this dealership, no way in hell it should have taken 3 hours with like 4 cars in there, but whatever) And then I get a report that both my front break rotors need to be replaced at a cost of 220, 120 for the pads and 100 in labor) All I can say when I see this is WTF So I tell them I will call them on Monday and let them know what I decide on the tires and rotars...

So after doing some thinking I find the post with the TSB on the roters, and then I go back through my service records. Funny thing is my rotars have been reported as GREEN status as late as 5-23-08!!!!!! How the FRACKING HELL DO THEY GO FROM GREEN TO RED IN LESS THAN A MONTH?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!

So I am basically going to call them on Monday and shove the TSB report dowm their throats for free rotarsl (which should have been replaced A FRACKING YEAR AGO) or else I am going to call regional.

So I decided to start off by email, because I tend to be able to get ALL my thoughts out, and sometimes I can even do it nicer if I am lucky.

This is what I sent them:

Mrs. Reynolds,
I am very frustrated at my current situation. I have been doing some thinking about the report on my front break rotors. Thing is I have been complaining about squeeky breaks since last year on numerous occasions. Please refer to item 7 on the service report for 9-29-07 and item 3 on 11-17-07. My rotors were also reported as GREEN status as late as 5-23-08 which is less than a month ago. They have also been consistantly reported as GREEN status for much longer. Lastly, I would also like to call your attention to this TSB: 04-001/06 Issued on 4/26/2006. http://www.finishlineperformance.com...01-06-1568.pdf This indicates that not only has there been a history of reported issues with squeeky breaks on this car, but that you should have also replaced them at no cost to me.

I had known about this TSB because I have been complaining about this issue for a long time now and did some research about it, but have not yet pressed the issue since your dealership could not reproduce the issue. Given the circumstances now however, (the fact that I very suddenly need to replace the front rotors after they had been reported by your dealership as fine for the last year) I am going to have to press this issue. I find it very disconcerting that I have had to put up with this issue for so long and now am being stuck with the cost for the failed repair of my breaks. I will call to confirm reciept of this email on Monday at noon if you have not contacted me before hand. My cell is ###-###-####.

Sincerely,
(edited)

if you need pads, go for these with your driving style: Hawk Ceramic's

if you need rotors, check these out: RacingBrake

if you need tires, then go here: Kumho's

they can actually deny brake rotor replacement under warranty once your out of 12 months/ 12,000 miles its very tough to get regular brake wear items covered after that period, tsb's are not repairs that have to be done under warranty they help address known concerns whether they are covered its a case by case (kind of stinks brake rotors show such a big difference in one month kind of curious what they have to say about that)

I finally got an answer today and this is pretty much what the told me (have 35k miles on the car). They did apologize for the inconsistant full circle inspection reports however. I am going to get the kumos from the dealer and try to somehow get the hawk hps rotors in before sunday so we can get them installed at the party. Hopefully I can get some kind of consession for them for their poor inspections or something. Maybe a detail or something when they install my tires.

I have had good treatment at Hiley, but I just found out yesterday that Brant no longer works there. Without him, I don't know what's gonna happen at that place. If they apologized to you, at least it's a good sign. Hope it works out for you. We'll see.
