Experience at Best Mazda SW freeway Houston

I am serious about buying an RX8 at this point and went into Best Mazda on 59S in Houston. I have been reading up on the RX8 for some time now and know what is what. All they had in stock was an auto 40th edition and a manual 40th edition. I wanted to look at the manual which was on the showroom floor. Battery was dead (second mazda dealership, and the second dead battery)

Anyways, I asked the salesman what made the 40th edition different (already knowing the answer) and he said that it was "faster because it had an additional rotor".

Wow...unless I have found a REALLY rare 40th anniversary edition, I think I ran into yet another horrible and uneducated Mazda sales person.

Is there someone in Houston who is not a total waste of time to buy a car from? This is my second bad experience with two different Mazda dealers here.

Extra rotor eh?? Amazing.. See if they'll sell you the one that comes factory turbo'd also.. I think it's behind the curtain.
I'd recommend Hiley mazda here in Arlington.. but that's a bit of a ways from you. Honestly, I'd say look for a used one.. You'll probably save 10,000 or so and still be under the full warranty for a year or two. Unless you have your heart set on a brand new one.

Some of the deals out there on the used are really good. I still need to get two cars sold before I can get the rx8. One car will be used for the purchase, one for the upgrades. I do like the 40th edition, but I have also fallen in love with a Shrinka with really low miles. I just don't know if it will still be around until I can get my other two sold.

Anyone want to buy a slightly used Impala SS with an injector that is stuck open? I have already shed too much blood fixing this damn car, but will have to do it yet again to sell it.

Good new is that I will have a complete nitrous system off of it that can be put into the Mazda...although, I might want to downsize from the 15lb bottle. I still have to fit golf clubs in the trunk!

Mazda sales people in Houston so far have been poor. They either don't know what they are selling, or are overselling what they have. Sad really.

Would that be a 1:18 scale version? or one that has been through therapy?

Wow, that's kind of personal. It was love in a cereberial sense if you have to know.

Actually, I went to the local carmax and it was my second test drive. I got to take it out for 30 min or so. The handling was so nice.

After many trips to best (its where I bought the car) I now go to jeff hass on I10 for my service. The service department there is on a totally diff scale compared to best.

Hey I bought my car from Best Mazda. The service department have made me incredibly happy because they provided nothing but excellent service for me. Its been 3 years and so far they have not caused me any problems. I do know that salesmen are incredibly stupid anywhere you go. I talked to a salesman inside the showroom and he had no intellegence of anything. I think the only job theyre suppose to do or something is sale you a car. Despite that, the service they provide at the service department are great and they send you USEFUL coupons all the time.

Thanks for all the input guys. I am between buying a new 40th aniv, or buying used. The depreciation on these cars is sick and it may be too much of a savings to buy new.

Now I just have to sell a few cars! Anyone want a gas guzzling boat of a car with a stuck injector? You will learn to love the 9mpg...really...

DON'T GO THERE (BEST MAZDA )!!! I posted BEST MAZDA in the bad guy/dealer thread because the service sucks ballz there. Service manager claims he owns 4 rx7s and an rx8 - he's a big joke. I told them exactly what I wanted to do and to follow specific instructions...they didn't even come close to what I was asking for. During that day when I was waiting for my car a guy came up and asked me, "does the service usually suck here? Because they serviced my car 30 mins ago and I'm back because my car started smoking." After the bad service and the experience that guy had, I'm never going back there ever again.

I hear ya. If it had been named "Stupid Sales force and crappy service Mazda" I think I would of gone to the next stealership.

I guess Haas Mazda is worth a look. Their sales slugs and service can ONLY go up from my experiences so far.

I don't expect much. Cars with charged batteries, and people who know a little about what they are selling. Come on, you only have a product line of a limited number of vehicles with limited options.

3 rotor 40th anniv edition indeed....I should take a recorder next time.
