I have completed all the L1 requirements...took the L2 class and now am 3 practices into it. Twelve more L2 practices before I can attempt to test out and move on to L3.

You are always learning something out there and are always being humbled by someone in a vehicle that surely can't be better than yours...but they proceed to whip your *** anyway. Really fun!

 

LOL...I am trying to get out there every couple of weeks...so the next time out will likely be on August 9th... Come out and we'll see if we can't get you are ride!

Hey there fellow enthusiasts...I will be headed back to the track this coming Sunday August 9th 10:00am.

Hope to see some of you 8 guys out there!

 

Saw my first 8 out at Driveway today...didn't get a chance to talk to the guy and find out if he is on the forums.

He took the L1 class a few months ago and hasn't been back until today. Obviously a bit rusty but did well considering. It was nice to finally see one!

Damn it, I didn't do **** today, I should have rode up. Forgot all about it. When you planning on heading up again?

 

I head up there every two weeks. I try to do 2 sessions minimum every time I go. 60 minutes of track driving in this Texas heat will wear you and the car out!

My next outing will be on August 23rd.

 

Hehe, I wonder if its too soon to beat on my new motor. Maybe I should just do a ride along.

 

You can come along and check it out if you would like. You may get to join in on a parade lap with one of the instructors to see the track up close. Then if you like it you could take their L1 class and drive the short course on open practice days. Loads of fun.

How much to run in the L1 class, do you know off hand?

 

The L1 class is $350...it is a 6 hour course. You spend 60%-70% of the class in your car getting seat time...the other 30%-40% is in the classroom/track walking. They take a break and cater lunch which is pretty cool too.

The really nice thing is that you don't have to pay any membership fees or dues...no outrageous deposits...just pay for the class so they know you have been properly instructed. Then all you pay for are the practice sessions (20 minutes in length)...L1 is $35 per practice session....you have access to instructors during practice and can tap their knowledge as much as you want.

It may not sound like a long session, but with all your autox 9k, you know better than anyone how long 20 minutes can be at 110% full focus and concentration on a very demanding road course.

I am heading to the track this weekend instead of next weekend due to family obligations.

Good seeing Grungepup and 9k at the track today! Trying to get them hooked on the crack! Driveway is alot more reasonable than other tracks, but tracking is still a not a inexpensive endeavor no matter how you slice it...so I can appreciate taking the plunge! Thanks for making the drive with me.

Session #2 was better than Session #1...bummer you guys missed it. I may post the videos and link it to this thread for viewing.
