Does anybody know
the rotten egg smell is from fuel with sulphur compounds which is not very common now, when the cat goes bad as in not converting the gas compounds properly it will just smell fuel rich, when it goes bad flow-wise will have the lack of power problem

If it rattles that's really, really bad. Your primary symptom should be the loss of power. Mine failed so I'll recount the story.
At first, all was well.
Then, I noticed some stuttering when I rev'd through 5k-6k rpms. The revs would jump up and down a bit between 5k/6k rpm and not really go above 7k. Seemed to rev okay otherwise so I speculated it was bad gas.
Then, I began to lose power slowly. Over the course of several days I felt less and less satisfaction with my butt dyno. Eventually I found I was losing speed going up steep hills, then I had to get a running start even for slight inclines. The car seemed to ignore Wide Open Throttle (WOT).
By the end I could not rev above 3k to 4k rpms and I was in full panic. All sorts of horror scenarios about blown seals and destroyed engines were playing through my head.
Once the cat was replaced my RX-8 was a whole new beast. I now scoff at the folks who say 'slow' or 'no power' about our cars because, man, I have *seen* 'no power' and its ugly.
