DFW: ROAD-Club first official recurring meeting - August 3rd 2004

I'd like to setup the first official Rotary Owners Association of Dallas Club meeting. This meeting would be the first recurring meeting (once or twice a month on a set day, like the first and third tuesday or thursday of the month) so we can discuss events and stuff.
We havent met in a while, so this week or next week would be great! I'd prefer next week since setting it up as a recurring meeting would be much easier.
Now, I'm gonna ask, when and where would you all be available?
The place we set this time may likely become the place we set for every recurring meeting in the future.

So when are the most people available and interested and where would you like to meet?

Please post here and let's get this thing goin!

Thanks,
Jon

Thanks for the sticky.
Lotsa views but no responses?
Have we lost interest in our cars? :b

Frankenguy 07-29-2004 07:55 AM

Friday nights, weekends. Anywhere in N. Dallas, Addison, Richardson, Plano - somewhere with an attractive wait staff, like BoneDaddy's :). Once a month is plenty for me. I'd also be interested in group buys for track days, driving schools, etc.

xSxxKxxYx 07-29-2004 09:33 AM

I'm up for it.... but sadly i can not go to any meets that's on Friday night or Sat. morning... always had church... but other then that... i'm up for it... =)

Ajax 07-29-2004 10:33 AM

Bonedaddy's is very popular with this group.
I'm surprised that some of the guys who have already been aren't chiming in here.
We are definitely looking at a group buy for driving school.
Track days would be fun too, but only after driving school! :b

8Driver 07-29-2004 05:36 PM

My schedule makes it hard to meet on the same day or date each month. I'll try to make whenever I can. BoneDaddy's is a good place to meet.

8 is enough 07-30-2004 08:42 AM

I would prefer a day other then friday or saturday, I like Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Place i could care less, i am open for anything

RX80wn3r 07-30-2004 11:07 AM

I'm good for whenever.

RBRx8 07-30-2004 11:11 AM

Tuesday or Thursday sounds good to me. I'm also open to any meeting place... BoneDaddy's has been a good place with plenty of parking for the 8's but am open to somewhere else.

8 is enough 07-30-2004 04:28 PM

So Tuesdays and Bone Daddy's? any one

DrKillJoY 07-30-2004 05:25 PM

Tuesday's has worked well for the club down here... We have found that it does a few things to have a weeknight meeting..

1 - keeps the po-po's off your back
2 - less kids (or idiots hanging around causing trouble)
3 - tends to bring out the real enthusiasts, rather than the weekend warriors

overall since our switch to Tuesdays about a year ago, we have seen a better class of people hanging around the club. (It didn't hurt that RX-8 owners joined us about the swame time!)

Ajax 07-30-2004 06:33 PM

i have no problem w/tuesdays at bonedaddy's.

newtlicious 07-30-2004 09:50 PM

Ahhh yes, tuesday's. But which ones?

liqiud 07-30-2004 09:58 PM

Tuesday's at BD sounds best...sorry...i've been out of town...i'll of course be there...

and welcome back jon

DrKillJoY 07-30-2004 10:05 PM

(ppsst we chose the first tuesday of the month because it conflicts with the least amount of "out of towner" holidays (Christmas/Thanksgiving/Memorial Day/SuperBowl etc)

[I know the superbowl isn't a holiday, but I'll be damned if they don't celebrate it like one!]

Ajax 07-30-2004 10:30 PM

the first tuesday would be great, and that'd be next week.
think enough people could make it?

RBRx8 07-31-2004 08:22 AM

I should be able to make it... what time? Maybe around 7:00pm. The last time their were some people who couldn't stay because they get up early to go to work. That is why I suggest 7:00pm, but that might be too early for some.

liqiud 07-31-2004 03:23 PM

I think next Tuesday at 7 would be great...the people that wanted to stay later could stay later...my 2 cents anyway

DrKillJoY 07-31-2004 06:14 PM

FWIW - Next Tuesday is National Night Out (the homeowners here will know what I am talking about) = )

NYT-OWL 08-01-2004 04:26 AM

I don't go to Dallas very often, but where is BoneDaddy's?

But of course I'm always up for Hooters in Grapevine.
I've included their calendar (hasn't been updated for August yet) and some pics from their carwash which was on Saturday 07/31. I know Grapevine isn't really in Dallas, but it's kind of between Plano and Southwest Fort Worth.

Bonedaddy's is at 75 and spring valley.

which is richardson btw.. SW corner.

Ajax 08-01-2004 10:55 PM

So, Tuesday, 7pm, Bonedaddy's 75 and spring valley, SW corner...
Will I see you all there?

liqiud 08-02-2004 10:46 AM

should be there...boss may be having her going away party that night...otherwise, count me in.

irish8 08-02-2004 10:54 PM

Hey all, I can't make this Tuesday, Aug 3rd. Are you meeting any time later this month?

I may try and set something up for next week as well because of the short notice.
We'll see what tomorrow's turnout is like.

irish8 08-04-2004 08:57 AM

How was the meet in Addison?

Hey all,
How did the meet go?? When is the next meet? Maybe this weekend?

liqiud 08-04-2004 09:57 AM

I missed it...had to deal with a massive water leak at my Mom's house...

how was it Ajax...spill the details...and when can we have the next one???

Ajax 08-04-2004 10:28 AM

not many people showed up. I think it was too short notice.
Next official meeting is next month.

I'm also planning to go to BJ's next week either thursday or friday if you all want to meet me there one of those 2 days, pick one and let me know.

If you want to get together this weekend, that's fine too. Let me know.

liqiud 08-04-2004 10:58 AM

Lets do thursday...BJs...to hell with anything that happens.

Roo2001 08-04-2004 01:39 PM

Are people still meeting at KeDavis tonight? Where is BJs?

liqiud 08-04-2004 02:01 PM

BJs is on Beltline just West of the Tollway...not sure about KeDavis...don't think it was every "officially" a ROAD Meet.

Ajax 08-04-2004 03:07 PM

if i ever get off work today, i'll stop by kedavi and say hi.

irish8 08-04-2004 08:58 PM

Hey,
What is everybody doing Sunday afternoon? How about meeting somewhere in
Addison? Maybe the londoner for a drink? Failing that, next Thursday or Friday is good for me.

Ajax 08-04-2004 09:26 PM

sunday?!! are you serious?!! drinking on the sabbath?!!

wait.. i'm not religious, so I don't care.
Sounds like a plan.

I'll meet whoever, whenever, wherever. The RX-7 guys want us to move our meets to wednesdays at shuck and jive. Unfortunately, we can't cater to all ages that way.

So londoner, what time?

Next Thursday, BJ's in Addison, 7:30 is when I'll be there. All are welcome as usual. I'm gonna call Panoz and Drivers Edge tomorrow to find out about a group rate. I'll let you all know what I find out.

Jon

irish8 08-04-2004 10:54 PM

Ajax,
I'm open. How about 7pm? Lets see if we can round up a few 8's for the shindig!!!

RX8-TX 08-04-2004 11:13 PM

Nahh...mathematics rock!..it sucks to be stuck every day for a month and a half during Summer.

About meeting up...someone mentioned the Londoner @ 7. I like the place, and I think Sunday would be a fit for the wife and me. Besides, I can order a nice Sheppards pie....yum

Saturday we are tied for almost the whole day (I have to take care of the friggin' lawn before the city sends me another nasty letter..) and at night we are going to be off to Keller to visit her parents.

liqiud 08-05-2004 04:24 PM

where is londoner...

There you have it...Londoner @7pm on Sunday night. Looking forward to it. I called Town North Mazda today to schedule my 8 in for the M-flash update and an oil change, I priced the accent rotary pieces for the front and rear bumper...get this F-$72, B-$85...do these seem right or high???

I think they are just about right.

NYT-OWL 08-06-2004 10:02 PM

Addressing the rotary accent pieces, I have read on another thread where other owners have taken Chrome Bumper paint and painted the accents themselves and the pics that they took look really good, plus it was only around $ 10-20 for the paint.
