DFW Mazdas

I got asked about why no 8's ever show up to the meets, and I explained about how expensive the ones we goto are. But on a side note heres a link to what they have coming up if anyone is interested in meeting with other mazdas in the DFW area. I have gone to one meet, and I know other 8's show up from time to time but here you go if your interested.

http://www.dfwmazdas.com/vbulletin/f...splay.php?f=11

its also not a terrible forum, just not as good as this one.

Speaking only for myself, I prefer the folks on these boards. Other groups tend to be of the more ricer variety and I tend to stay away from groups as unsavory as those.

What is that supposed to mean??

I am a member of DFWmazdas and have gone to a few meets in the past. The reason not many 7 or 8s go to that meet is because they are all about pistons. We can't really relate to many of their mechanical and tuning issues because its so different.

It's not so much that they are a 'ricer' crew, its just that they tend to to meets in walmart parking lots or sonic drive-in's or something of the sort. just not really my style..

Ive only drive at two meets from guys from here, both times it destroyed the paint on my front bumper and cost 50 plus in fuel :P. You should see what it did to the front of my car this time, other people actually had there front air dam and undercovers broken luckily i did not.

I've had the pleasure of being around a few different groups of enthusiasts: GA RX-8 Club (great crew), NTX Rotary (DFW RX-8's) (cool group), El Paso, TX (non-existent), SARX (cool guys) and DFW Mazdas who are a group of cool people. A lot of boost in that group, mostly MS3's, MS Protege and MS6's and some regular 6's, but cool guys nonetheless. I'm not a fanboy by no stretch, but I do prefer to be around other 8's, realistically who else relates to what's going on with your 8 than another 8 owner. Just my take on things.

The last meet had quite a few more rocks than normal but most of the time its not nearly as bad. If you are riding the person in front of you then of course you will get paint chips. Its a given on ANY road, especially back country roads, so as a tip you probably should put some space between you and the person in front of you. Riding the person in front of you is dangerous if something were to happen.

As far as money goes this car is expensive to own, so yes you will be paying for gas, its a given. Its a sports car, its not supposed to get good gas mileage. Our car is unique with this engine, you gotta pay to play. And if your riding the guys *** in front of you then its your own fault you have a ton of rock chips, sorry Charlie, put more space between you and the person in front of you.

Most of us are drivers as well, not really a car show kinda group. Sure I keep my car really clean but id prefer to be driving or tracking my car, this costs money.

Plus the DFW Mazda crew is a different group, not a bad thing but the reason why alot of us like sitting to our meets is alot of us have known each other for a long time. Im not a original member but ive known these guys for 2 years now at least, there are other members that have been here for longer than that. We are a tightly united group so we only like hanging out with each other.

That about covers all the bases...

I don't have an issue with the fuel consumption other than we could use a bit more HP for the fuel it does burn.

I wasn't riding the guy in front of me because he was a bit more brake happy in the turns and I wanted to push the car a little harder. I still ended up with a destroyed front bumper but luckily not nearly as beat up as others lol.

My bumper is destroyed again. Haha. That's what I get for running so close to Kyle. Not the first time won't be the last. I need a 3m bra

Dude...whatever you hit, I don't think a 3M bra would have helped. Maybe with some of the small rocks and stuff, but that's about it.

I think that's also something that sets our group apart from some of the other car groups. At the end of the day, I know I'll drive the **** out of my car and worry about the rocks and dings later. A lot of people are in it for the show, which is completely fine. We just tend to be more focused on the driving aspect and the experience than the showmanship. I "try" to keep my car clean and nice, but I'm not going to slow down or not drive because I'm worried about how my car will look.

Do as Jimmy says, get a friend that works at a bodyshop. I wish I had one.
I've done all of the 'rocky' meets and my hood and lip tell the tale...I don't really mind so much though.

Different strokes for different folks. Some like to show, some like to drive.

There's a reason that (until recently) I mainly had mods that you'd feel instead of see.

Oh, and you haven't seen rocks flying until you've been on Hwy 16 and come across a sign that says "Loose gravel ahead". Loose gravel my ***, they removed the road and replaced it with a gravel road!
