I'm confused, why are you posting an s2000 event on an rx8 board... are you inviting us out or something?

Yea, they hosted it but all are welcome and if you look as of right now if you have regular tires we are up against...

a G35
EVO 9
Mini Cooper s
Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec v
Saturn Vue Redline

there is already a rx-8 signed up but he must have r-class tires because he is in a higher bracket.

This is an official event with the North TX autocross series (renamed from S2000 owners club). It is hosted primarily by S2000 owners but we welcome all makes/models. I will be driving my Elise instead of my S2000 that day. We will have a pretty fast RX-8 driver on race tires there as well. If it's your first time, concentrate on learning the course and driving a good line instead of trying to blow through the course as fast as possible.

Feel free to come find me if you're new or have any questions or shoot me a PM here. I will be in the red Lotus Elise and can also instruct anyone.

Please make sure your car is in good running shape with the oil topped off, lug nuts tightened, clean brake fluid and make sure you remove all extra junk from your car prior. We will have loaner helmets available for use but you will have to bring or buy a headsock on site. There will be a novice walkthrough where someone will give you tips on how to drive the course and discuss rules with you.

Joseph

I've never done autocross... price is a concern..

How much total should I expect to pay for the day? is it just a 20 dollar registration fee ?

How much are the headsocks?

If the price is reasonable, I will go and def hit you up for some instruction.

Registration is $20 but then you'll probably need to spend some money on gas and lunch. Then there are the consumables (tire wear, burned oil/gas etc). It's fun but if you're worried over $20 you might want to wait.

I think headsocks will be $5.00 each but don't quote me 100% on that or you can go buy your own.

You do if you want to use one of our loaner helmets. If you have your own helmet it's not necessary.

Well let me clarify a bit, I'm not going to pay someone 30 dollars to do 3 laps around TMS even if its for a charity event

I'm also not going to pay someone 200 dollars for a day of track time either, as that is just stupid (4 20min runs for example)

I dont mind tire/gas/food, cuse that stuff I normally pay for anyway.

Basically I want to know exactly what I am getting for the 20 dollar registration fee. Though I would gladly pay that for 4 20 min runs etc.

Wow... you really think 4, 20min run sessions is not worth 200$...? So umm..why do you drive an RX8?

There are curvy roads all over texas that we can have fun on for free.... dont need to go to a track

Kerville and the state meet and the cruises we already do around the area are a prime example of that.

You can't drive on public roads at 10/10ths without possibily getting a ticket, accident or killing someone. At an autocross you can push the limits in a safe environment and learn car control without fear or causing damage to your car or hurting yourself. To me that's worth way more than $20.00. If you don't see the value in that I'm not sure why you need a sports car.

For $20 you get 8 runs that are approximately 40 seconds. So 320 seconds or a little over 5 minutes so $4.00 a minute. How does that sound?

try to get a ride with the driver of the white RX-8.
that may give you a hint of why some of us pay $20 for 3+ runs.
somehow, i'm not optimistic...

^Pushing your car to it's absolute limit. And don't say you do, because if you've never been to the track, you will never know. Curvy roads are nothing like AutoX or a Road Course...
