DFW = NTXRotary

Hey guys, some time ago during a meet some us got together and decided it would be cool if the DFW peeps had a name much like the SA group had (theirs being SARX). It was decided that we would be NTXRotary, or North Texas Rotary.

I've since bought a domain name and started building a website around this theme. (www.ntxrotary.com)

About the only thing that I've "done" on the site is choose a color scheme, a general link layout and made the About Us page.

I also currently uploading picks from previous meets that I took, or others took and I have. Once thats complete I will start building out galleries. Honestly the reason I sat on the site for so long is that I was having trouble trying to figure out how to handle the large amount of photos I had without having to make galleries by hand which is time consuming and tedious. Now that I have a work around, this task is quick and easy.

Is there anything anyone would like to see on the site? Keep in mind I'd like to keep things clean.

No particular reason. We couldnt find a name that had a nice flow to it. It was the first one that a majority agreed sounded nice. Its been so long I cant remember what the alternatives where, but they were all bad.

DFWRX sounds kinda bad...

thats valid. we can just have an indivisual thread on the club to save some green for ya.
or a fb group or something.

the idea is good but i dont think a site is necessary.

Why not? True, its not neccessary. But now we have our own repository for things. We can easily get pictures and videos from one spot from all our prior meets without having to book mark threads, or trying to remember things etc.

Its also a nice spot to bring people to. For example, now I can have a business card printed with the NTXRotary logo and put it on a car. Just directing people to a forum might overwhlem them. Now we have a nice "face" so to speak.

Its just something nice to have. Unity. Kind of like SARX now has decals for their front windsheilds etc.

I'm sure there are other things I could thing of, but really all in all they are quite minor. It was just something nice to have. Besides, I'm doing all the paying and work on it, so why not just enjoy it

Ok, I did a blog/picture entry so you guys can get a feel for what I'm going for here. I am sure the flow could be enhanced somehow, but I'm not a web designer by trade, I just work in IT so that means I can through a bunch of crap together to make it work.

Also Kwarner has tried his hand at some logos and so far I think its a good start.
Note on the logo's:
Background MUST be transparent.
Size is currently @ 298x95 (though the ones below dont fit that) (can possibly be adjusted bigger/smaller as the case need)
Colors are black and red and possibly some white if you heart so desires.
The background of the image will be grey for the time being (you can see this in the current header of the site)
Attached Thumbnails DFW = NTXRotary-logo.png   DFW = NTXRotary-logotest1.png   DFW = NTXRotary-logotest2.png

Hmm, thats an idea. The issue I have with making the image background a Texas flag is that it will be cut off around the edges where the header background picks up and wont be seemless.

SOOO, what I'm thinking is that I may just change the header background to the Texas flag, but that opens up a whole nother can of worms with the header being dynamic. So we will see on that.

^^^ Thomas are these for our cars? I want mine in Blue, It'll match my car color... if the stickers can be possibly color matched (or close). A new font imo should be selected (no harsh feelings) Im not feeling the cursive or the rotary pic in there... something that just says NTXROTARY idk, ill play around with Word and see what fonts look cool...

Assuming this is for a car sticker...

No, these logos arent for cars, what I'm talking about at present is JUST website images. If someone else wants to head up stickers thats great, but I'm the web guy

Ahh okay makes sense... WELL, IMO is dont make it too stereotypical, Like the stereotype of how everyone in Texas wears boots... I think it should all be BOLD, in one sweet looking font

NTX in the font it is up there. but dark brown, with a lighter edge. the word 'rotary' and the rotor emblem should be branded. or similar. all on a big fat awesome texas flag

Lol, well there is going to be a balance struck somewhere. Like I said this is just an ideas thread. But we do live in Texas so it has to have some elements of Texas in it.

I added a bit more content as well. There should be at least three blog/picture entries. There is also two video entries, though only 1 has content at this point.
I'm still fleshing things out at this point.

Also keep in mind I'd like everyone to keep this thread as clean as possible We can be sarcastic to each other in other threads. Aka if you dont have something nice to say dont say it all. Constructive critiscm is the key. So if you dont like something recomend ways to change it to make it better.

Looks good Thomas. Thanks for all the effort. I'm not feeling the western style/texas flag theme, seems more suited for a large pick-up truck with a gun rack than a 8. IMHO. I like the idea of the business cards, pretty cool. I'm with Brandon and Wig - there should be a logo decal for the cars (except for Nick for whatever reason...) and I'd be happy to help with that. As far as NTXRotary as a name, works for me. Although, do we need a seperate "hidden" link on the page for our new group, NTRXafterdark? lol

Oh, and you might want to have a spell checker added.... It's McKinney and Toyota.... If the intent is to have this as the "face" of NTXRotary, we should probably make sure such things as grammer & spelling are correct.
