Has anyone gotten to test drive an RX-8 in Austin yet? Some of the posts seem to indicate that this has happened.

Personally, I can not get any of the dealers (all owned by Roger Beasley) to let me have a test drive. They all claim that they have dedicated demo cars coming "any day". I've already got financing all lined up, it's just that I'm not convinced I want an RX-8 yet (especially w/o having driven the car).

I would normally have no problems being patient except the other cars on my list are all used cars and I would hate to see them sold off before I had a chance to decide which car I really wanted.

Anyway, I just wanted to check to see if anyone else in town has gotten a test drive and if so, who I might talk with to get this to happen for me.

I test drove in Austin, but it was my pre-order (now my daily driver) that I test drove. There were two allocations at RB North last Friday and after briefly talking to my salesman today, he indicated he drove one of the 8s yesterday. I would go in and say how serious you are ( "I'm as serious as a heart attack") and let them know it all hinges on a test drive. If no dice, go somewhere else - they probably don't deserve your money. The salespeople have all driven these cars (and probably not too gently), so I dont know why you shouldn't, especially if your dead serious about buying one very soon.

Boowana..did you order from RB North or South? I ordered from the North and they said they haven't gotten one in. I went to RB South. They had 3 at one time. There was a red one in the showroom that matches your car, it's gone now. It's replaced with a black one. I asked a salesman for a test drive. He said sure--after they do a credit check and approval for purchase...WTF!!! I mentioned I preordered--no dice. I hate salesman like that. Just because I look young. I got better treatment from RB North. They treated me great. Hoping to get it by the end of the month.

When did you stop by North? They've had cars since Tuesday or Wednesday of last week. I got mine on Friday and there were 3 others besides mine there - and only one of them was pre-ordered.

Now let me get this straight, you preordered a car from the North store and they wouldn't let you test drive, even though they got more cars in than we did, so you came to the South store to test drive one of our cars, and we're the bad guys? It's funny that all my preorders that have come by have gotten to test drive.

Yep, Budaman is Awesome. He's let all the pre-orders from Mazda South. Go for test drives, if they have you on the pre-order list at Mazda North, I don't know why they wouldn't let you test drive. (Except for not having the Official Dealer Demo) I'd go back in at let them know...

The cars are a rarity in Austin right now. Almost all the pre-orders still have not gotten their cars yet.

I didn't mean to offend anyone. I was under the assumption that RB North did not have any since my salesperson said they would call me if any car arrive...even just to look at. I am wrong about that. Last weekend I just happened to be down south and decided to stop by RB South. That's were my story begins. Parmer8 There is one here at RB North (Burnet RD) to test drive. Just call your salesman up.

wait... isn't roger beasly that mazda dealership next to that korean church? I didn't think they had any rx8s! you mean I drove practically to onion creek in rush hour traffic for NOTHING! DOH! Oh well. At least I got to see one. Too bad the salesguy was a moron.
