austin gasoline

hey - thought i'd post a cheap gas place for those of us that live in the nw area of austin. i've only been here 2 months so you may already know about it. at 2222 and 620 is an h.e.b. - it's been at $2.69 for weeks now!! that's for 87 obviously (which i have used in my car for 4 years now) but that's still 15 to 20 cents cheaper than anywhere else i've seen! i don't get it - you don't need a membership and they don't even check a receipt to make sure you shopped there. i've never really believed in differnet quality gasolines (like those shell commercials that talk about build up in your engine) but maybe it's true .... hmmm, $2.69 is hard to pass up though!!

it's only another 25 cents for the good stuff in most places around town (currently), I'd rather spend a little extra and know my car is getting the recommended fuel than buy the 87 stuff, just my personal preference though and thanks for the heads up, maybe someone else will take advantage of it

Yeah, I love the shell commercials where they tell me my pistons are getting gross buildup.

I've only ever put 91 in and 98% of it has been shell though, so I'm a bit picky.

i know there have been posts about 87 vs 91, and i understand the concerns people have, but --knock on wood-- 87 has been problem free for me. i think i normally get exxon; i've been going to a valero (isn't that owned by a bigger company though?) since i've been in austin. i just filled up with this gloriously cheap h.e.b. for the first time today so i'll let you konw if something goes awry!

6spd MT or 4spd AT or 6spd AT? It makes a difference.
