Austin engine rebuild

So it looks like I'm going to need a rebuild for my 04. It's just out of warranty and unless Mazda works with me on it I'm going to have to get it done.

Anybody know someplace in Austin? I can get it pulled and take it someplace.

Thanks for any help.

Dam... Well I guess I can help you.

Whats your budget and timeline look like?

ie, how much can you spend on this and how long can you live without your car?

I'd like to not have out put of commission too long..but it takes what it takes. My son in law is a mechanic and he could pull the engine and put it back but doesn't have time to rebuild it. I don't even know what to expect it to cost.

For a quality rebuild you are looking at $5,000 assuming your internals are in good condition.

Didn't expect it to cost that much, I'll see what Mazda says about it. I saw a guy I could ship it to in Tennessee who did them for $1450 plus shipping. may have to go that route.

Check out Mazmart.com (a vendor of these forums). The price for a refurbished engine, plus your core is decent. As long as your son in law can pull/install the engine, you should be good to go

I've never heard of someone what can do them for 1450 shipped. The new seals, springs etc cost around $1300 alone without replacement of internals.

A quality build would mean that a reputable builder would be doing it, replacing needed parts.

Turbo isnt on yet its going to be a while until that's ready to go.

There is a HUGE difference between someone who builds engines as a full-time profession and some guy on a forum that managed to build an engine for himself in his spare time.

Be careful with offers from internet forums..........
Good to know. Thanks, Shady and CRH!
