ATTN: DFW 8 Owners
I'll be a Freshman at SMU next year, and I was wondering if anyone had had problems with your warranties after modding your cars? Are the local dealerships friendly mod-wise as far as services are concerned?
My 8 has 16k miles on it, and it'd be a shame to waste my remaining warranty.
Thanks for any input,
Michael

I can tell you that it is well know that Mazda NAO trolls these and other Mazda forums looking for owners modding their cars. It might not be the dealership you need to worry aobut. :D
SIDEnote: Most "performance" manufactuers are doing this now-a-days. And many (especially) Dodge and Subaru have won many court cases regarding voided warranties.

Alot of it depends on the mods you do.
An intake or exhaust will not completely void your warranty. Neither will suspension work.
These mods will jut void the warranties on the parts they effect. For example if you put in springs and shocks, don't take ur car to dealership if something is wrong with the handling.
Some mods will completely void your warranty tho. Like Turbo, Supercharger, or even Porting.

Truthfully, I'd just go for the RB Revi and exhaust, but i'm worried that they (the dealership) would associate these mods with the engine, whose warranty seems the most important to me. (Other than electrical, which my 8 has been in for twice since purchase)

I have heard the new rx7's motor, will have different ports then the rx8s motor

I have been to Town North in Richardson with RB Intake & Exhaust, RB suspension package and the RP supercat, I was complaining about a clanking noise and the only thing they said that if it happens to be from the sway bars it will not be covered under warranty. The did not say anything to me about the other mods, and the problem was not from the sways so the fix was covered under warranty.
