AR Ark-La-Tex area???

I live in Texarkana, AR and see A LOT of 8s running around and was wondering if any of them use the site or not.

Us to the south slightly in the DFW area have alot of members lol, I doubt they travel up there regularly though

That sucks. I see several 8s here in town but guess they don't know about the website. I need to buy a club decal and put on my back window or something to share the word lol.

There is hardly anyone around the Arklatex on this forum lol I've been searchin for like 2 years haha just found out misticalsnake is. He came to the drift even at TRRP which since I'm on here right now for anyone interested in the arklatex TRRP has started drifting events and they are having a pretty good turn out. They have had two so far and they have been lots of fun. I'll post up some info here in a sec.

This is the flyer and info from the last event. The track owner said the drift events will be every 2nd sunday of the month. There is also test and tune and bracket races going on during the event. Spread the word we finally have a play ground :P

ENTRY FEE:

Drivers $25
$10 per spectator OR $10 per vehicle (regardless of the number of passengers) with an event flier.

EVENT SCHEDULE:

Drifters arrive at 11:00
Drivers meeting and course walkthrough at 11:30 (for drifters)
Gates open at 12 (excluding drifters)
Racing starts at 1PM
2012 Thunder Road drivers meeting/meet and greet 2PM
Driving for everyone until 5PM

I need all drifters to be at the drivers meeting on time so I can give everyone the run down. Last weekends event was preliminary and we're going to have to implement a couple more safety rules and provide drivers with more information on the course before they take their first stab at it.

SAFETY/TECH INSPECTION (for drifting only!!):

-Must have a minimum of a DOT approved helmet, for drivers and passengers. Motorcycle helmets are acceptable. (I don't want anyone thinking a barbie bicycle helmet will pass inspection). THIS DOESN'T HAVE TO BE ANYTHING FANCY.

-Must have working seat belts (and they must be worn!!!!)

-Batteries must be secured

-Drivers seat must be secured as well as any seat a passenger will be riding in

-No constant fluid leaks

-ABSOLUTELY NO DRIFTING OUTSIDE OF THE DRIFT COURSE

-No hands outside of windows

-Important not to drive past your limits. We want you to push yourself and improve, but within your abilities. If we set up a third gear course it doesn't mean you have to enter in third gear. Our staffers are there to help everyone improve so just take your time and ask for tips whenever needed.

-If you spin out and knock down a wall of cones, simply exit course and allow time for everyone to go out and reset the section. No big deal. But please don't proceed to knock down even more cones lol.

Thunder Road Raceway Park

5700 Thunder Road, Gilliam, LA 71029

JW am I the only boosted 8 in the Arklatex? I haven't seen any others in Shreveport/Bossier. In fact I've only seen a couple that were modified at all!

you're one of the very very few i've seen in person. I've actually been on this site forever just never really posted much. I didn't have an RX-8 for the longest and then finally got my blue R3 a couple years ago and have had a few issues (namely my pressure plate failing...thanks Spec!) I'm waiting on a new plate right now but i'm still probably 2 weeks out from getting it. I was trying to get that and the standalone done in time for the January event, but if it comes down to getting the standalone done or driving at the event, I'll get the standalone done and just ***** out everyone else's cars in pictures and vids again lol

Yea I've been told of a black one with a body kit and a big spoiler that was boosted, but they must have just been passing through because no one else has mentioned it. <- the source to that story isn't very reliable either.. Your pictures were sick man. I can't remember if it was you or not but one of the camera guys was standing by corner 3 when I spun out, so I waved as I was sliding towards you and you waved back haha so funny.

There actually used to be a titanium grey 8 here in Tyler that was boosted, but he stayed on E-manage blue and never got FULLY tuned and blew his engine after about 10K miles. This was also back in like 07 or 08 I think and was still running just the stock out of the box greddy kit.

I was the big dude wearing the navy blue and tan dickies shirt and some blue jeans. I was out there all day to the point my knee was killing me (tore up the lining on the bottom of my femur so it literally was grinding bone on bone). I took over 700 pics that day but ran out of room on my 4GB card and went through and started deleting some shots that were dark, or bright, or just plain crappy lol If I drive at the next event everyone else will have to take up some picture taking slack lol I'll still have my GoPro but I'm going to try and keep that on my car so I can get an outside picture of what i'm doing and try to improve drastically every event

Ya I always hit up this forum to get with some people but idk RX8 owners don't seem as tight as the PNW crew! I am in Fort Polk LA, and travel regularly to dallas, Houston and New Orleans. I will be FI in I pray 8 months. Going the Supercharger route, I will be getting my full bolt on tune by Steve Kan (theman) in March/April once I get my RB headers.

I here ya man the 318r forum is better as far as local events or getting good deals on parts and such. But the info on this site is amazing! I knew very little about how to work on cars and such. Never thought I would install a turbo or suspension myself! Hell I hardly ever changed the oil myself Haha.

Can't wait for you to go FI man! You seem like you know your **** and your 8 is sure to be a beast!

Word thanks! I'll see you at a lot more events this year. This is the year Imma make a name for myself in the Gulf. I am well known in the Pacific NW, now its time for the south!

Btw, when did you get your kit fully on and tune? How much are you making? hp/tq?

BTW when is the next Drift event? I need to step up! And BRING IT ON! lol

I don't think he's dyno'd at all. Just had MM do the e-mail back and forth to get the tuning done. The next event will be January 14th, 2012 at Thunder Road Race Park in Gilliam, LA. Gates open at 10 for setting up car, laying out the course, and doing tech in and driver's meeting. Drifting starts at 12 and will run up until around 5.

Yea no dyno yet and I'm still not done tuning it. My schedule and MM's seem to not coordinate at all lol but its running strong for the most part. Right now i have a coolant leak that I keep putting off :/ I'm 85% sure is a freeze plug.

You know Steve Kan the Best rotary tuner is just a stones throw away in Dallas right? MM is a great guy, but Kan is da man!
