Apex Driving Academy News and Events.

Apex is running MSR C Clockwise on Oct 20th. New Student groups sold out.

Apex now has a Mini S that we rent for Apex school days. Rental and class is $650.

APEX DRIVING ACADEMY INVITES YOU TO JOIN US AT MOTORSPORT RANCH ON NOVEMBER 17TH 2007.
NEW GRADUATE GROUPS WITH LESS TRAFFIC!
DATA ACQUISITION!

WE WILL BE RUNNING THE 1.7!

Apex Driving Academy invites you to join us on November 17, 2007, We will be running (1) intermediate and advanced graduate groups; and (2) data acquisition. Due to the growing ranks of our graduates and our continuing desire to provide safe, quality, uncrowded education, we will have two grad groups, intermediate and advanced, limited to 18 students each. In addition, we will be using the Performancebox GPS-based data acquisition as a teaching aid for our grads, with a very limited number of units available to rent and use in your car. You can find the curriculum and new three group format on our website www.apexdrivingacademy.com.

Cost is still $195, you may register at our web site under events. This event is open to any car (no trucks or SUVs, please) and please wear long pants and sensible shoes. Driving suits are not required. You do need to (1) bring or rent ($10) a helmet; and (2) have your car inspected per the Tech Inspection sheet on our web site. There are only 18 slots available for this event in each run group (new student, intermediate and Apex Advanced). Every student will receive instruction, grads on an as-needed basis. Grads also get to go it alone, provided you are solo-qualified by us.

Also new for this event will be GPS-based Performancebox data acquisition. We have 2 units at present for rental, at $50 per day. If there is enough interest, we will have more for sale and rental in the future. We will be using actual student and instructor data to create track maps, show you details on the proper line, and much more. As we refine this teaching tool, you will also be able to take data with you and download it from our web site for further study.

This is High Performance Driving Education, not a timed event or competition! There will be instruction at this price point! All safety aspects will be covered in the first classroom session, which starts promptly at 9:00am. You will need to sign no later than 8:30am. Bring drinks, snacks, and sunscreen; don’t get dehydrated!

For better stability when driving, we also have the lap belt cinch CG-Lock – try it free and buy it if you like it. It will hold you in your seat much better than the factory lap belt and installs in about 2 minutes.

Quick Question,

I have been to MSR once with the North Texas Audi Group (NTAG), i was the odd man out in the RX-8. It was my first track experience and i loved it. I am defineatley looking to get back out there again. What are the requirements for attendance? do you have to be licensed out there or are newbies welcome. I see the different groups available for intermediate and advanced. I have about a year driving experience with SCCA and a few other events during Autocross and one track day at MSR. I dont know what class i would be put in, but i believe that i have surpassed novice.

Any help in what i need to do to attned or more information would be great.

Thanks

Scott

New students do not have to be members of MSR or have a race license.

Call me and we will talk about group placement.

I am not sure which event you came out to? If you came out to a weekday car club event yes all students do not get instruction.

We run both the 1.7 (both directions) and the 1.3. We do not run the 3.1 because logistically it is a nightmare. Many other orgs set out to run the 3.1 and for many reasons they end up running the 1.7.

At an Apex weekend event (BYOC).
All novice (new students) get instruction. All intermediate students get instruction, when they are soloed they work it out with their instructors.
Advanced students also get instruction if they ask and their car has a passenger seat. I do not make my instructors sit on milk crates.

^Ha, LOL. Yes, Ive run the 3.1 counter clockwise which was extremely fun. it was run with Drivers Edge, which from first hand experience, I would really recommend. Now I have another option for track driving then, I thought apex didnt have instruction.

We always have instruction. During weekday events we run a different format, to keep cost down for clubs. We have never has an accident at Apex in over fours years of operation at MSR.

Come out and give is a try. It is a one day format and you can spend one day with the family.

Where did you hear we did not have instruction?

John
