Question Anyone Need an Install Party?

Anyone have anything to install or fix and want to eat and drink while they do it? I've got puddle lights... Shari is coming in town April 8 and I'd like to get something set up if we have enough people wanting to participate... Jenkins - not to intrude, but do you have plans that day? Are you willing to share your garage again? I promise to make Harry leave at a decent hour this time.

Dazy: Can't wait to see how those puddle lights come out. Are you taking pictures along the way as you install them?

I can if you need me to. We installed ALWAZL8's puddles a few months ago and they're pretty cool. If we do this, I'll be sure to document well.

Wow... You just picked one of the only weekends I have free... well, kind of. I was actually thinking of having a party that night. Maybe we can have an after party at my house. I plan on getting a keg.........

What are you talking about Dazy??? The body kit only took 14 hours, and we were gone by 11pm... simmer down.

Since Jenkins is a pro at drilling into my car... i'll try to get the wing painted and ready (if it ever arrives) before then. My only other mod till april is the Interceptor, and i'm sure I'll probably install that within 15 seconds of it arriving

I think an after-install party at Slim's with a keg sounds mighty nice.

Paint houses? Do we trade time for mods?

Matters what u want in the end. We are going to use JR Customs in Irving for our install. It is gonna be pricey, but the fiberglass work painted to match the Shinka color of the car will be nice in the end i think.

What I want is something that sounds good(not just pounding bass, but bass that brings life to the car's stereo rather than just overwhelming it, sound quality=#1 priority) and looks good but not over the top in any way. I've already been doing the research on subs and amps so I know what I'm getting into. I've asked for suggestions from Jenkins as well since he does know the audiobahn product line pretty well.

How much are you paying for a custom install, if i can ask?

For a fiberglass box to hold 2 10s and 2 amps I was quoted around 800 for the labor and install of my parts. Gonna take up all the trunk. Wont be any carpet left at all. So there will be alot of fiberglass. Was also quoted at least a week to need to have the car up there for the whole job.

Depending on my schedule I might like to attend. I don't really have anything I need installed, but it would give me a chance to meet everyone, and I've done some light modding myself, and I enjoy the work so I could lend a hand.

No, the driver of the truck is Richard, a good friend of Jenkins. Jenkins owns the Ti Grey 8 that was parked at the very end w/ 20's, MS kit and CF wing, red/black decals on the side.

Ok, that's way more than I'm looking for. I'm looking to keep a majority of my trunk and do a single amp.

I'm not trying to argue with anyone, but I'm gonna give my 2 cents.

If you plan on using up your entire trunk space for your system, I would highly suggest having an alternate vehicle to transport your larger items. Yes - you can put groceries and suitcases and most things in the back seat of the RX8. However, if you have more than 2 people in your car, and you all have a large duffle bag for a weekend trip, the car ride will suck. I have some trunk space, but not much, and trying to fit luggage for a road trip wasn't easy.

I would recommend going to EarMark in Addison and take a look at the JL Audio series of subs, they do great work.

Ajax:

Have you looked into possibly going with 4080 boxes? I'm thinking going this route soon just to be able to keep most of my trunk.
(sorry if the picture comes out huge)

No, but that looks really good. I'll look into it.

Here's a simple question that someone might have the answer to, as far as car subs go, why are the audiobahn subs so much more efficient than everyone else? Most of the JL's are rated between 84-89 dB SPL and almost all of the audiobahn stuff is 90-99 db SPL. Efficiency is a big deal when it comes to how loud things will be. It's just confusing when the closest I've seen (in the limited number I've looked at) is Infinity's with 90 dB SPL.
