Funds sent for one order via PayPal. This is a great idea.

got mine in the mail and opened it up. It's smaller than I imagined, and the build quality is very good (I'm an electrical engineer). The light is very bright and whiter than I anticipated too. I don't think I could replicate this for $29; my time is money and this is done better than I would do it. Looking forward to getting it installed. Will get it done this weekend and post some pictures.

Can I get some in Blue.

Want to open my hood and wam.....

Edit: But really... this isn't a very good solution for the hole. Jst put some hair around it. You'll find it everytime.

I would really like to do some cool colors!
Cool White for a frosty HID look
Blue full and deep a really clean choice
Green a rich ocean green, nice
Amber stand out from the crowd!
Red bright and evil
Yellow only the brave!

I need 3 buyers before I can order the LED's for any of these colors. Once I get 3 buyers I will order parts and build/ship them right away! Warm White are always ready to ship!
The LED's are high quality Cree chips, my original Warm White (seen below) are Nichia LED's one of the best LED manufacturers in my opinion!
Here are some pictures that I hope will give everyone a better feel for the quality Lights I produce!

Yeah but where is it when you need it?
Most things you purchase have alternatives. You go to a restaurant instead of eating at home. The actual food cost is usually a trivial fraction of your final bill. You pay for service, rent, light, heat, advertising etc. With GBs the people that actually develop the product make very little profit (compared to the hundreds of percent markup that you see in the real world). They invest in some cases hundreds of hours for the love of it. I doubt they make anything significant as far as an hourly wage goes.

Anyway Lebren, I say good job man. But I don't want one because I already have a 99 cent solution.

Ok I'll take one. I would normally take the white, but I'll take any colour that you need to fill out your order for something new other people may want to try out.

And I don't like paying extra shipping to Canada. Just send it first class mail through USPS. Those Fedex, UPS, etc. guys skim off a handling fee at the border, and then hand it over to the customs guys to take their cut. I would rather have it get lost than support those crooks. Don't worry if I don't get it, I'll trust you sent it. PM me if we have a deal.

Thank you for your thoughts Delmeister, it is true I do this for the passion of sharing with everyone and anyone with a passion of rotary (ok and also piston engines too.)

All profits find their way in future products that will enhance the functionality of your ride, that's right, you invest in future R&D with each purchase! I love what I do, it's embedded in every product I make!

I ship USPS and provide delivery confirmation. If you don't receive your product, no questions asked another is on it's way.

I have ordered two sets of YELLOW & GREEN, and 3 sets of COOL WHITE, BLUE, RED, and AMBER led's. Taking orders for every color, for your choice of Hood Mount or AC Bracket mount.
Hood Mount will light up your entire engine bay, AC Bracket mount will illuminate your dipstick/oil filter area. RED and AMBER are the brightest colors, Delmeister, what color would you like, and mounting preference? Feel free to send payment and I will let you know if there is any difference in cost to ship. You will NOT be disappointed!

But does the hood mount still allow you to see the dipstick hole (without the hair)?
Edit-added another question.
Do the two mounts use basically the same light assembly and switch? I guess what I'm getting at is whether it is possible to try both positions to see which one works best.

the dipstick is still visible but I have to figure out how to trim all that hair, it really gets in the way! But seriously, check out the pictures to get a better idea how much light the warm white throws off. I will have the other colors later this week, possibly have pics up this weekend. This is just a quick and dirty setup, I will have the final assembly by the end of the week. Note, light is not completely centered.

I'd get the white for the dipstick and color for the engine bay, Ive got a green set with my name on it.. for the best of both worlds!

Wow, that is really nice. I almost pulled the trigger on the A/C mounted one, but I almost like this one better. I still might get the other though..

myriadshalks, I really don't know what keeps happening to your posts, but in response... what is the color of your car? I am working on getting the wires as stealth as possible, and with a bit of paint you can match it perfect making wires nearly invisible to the untrained eye. The Shroud on the hood also helps. Also, I am working on the next generation board though it won't be available for some time. Thanks!

i keep changing my mind. i feel like i want something almost exactly like what you're making, but not exactly. And i don't feel like I should ask for a custom since you're trying to make a bunch of them.

but i'll ask. i'd like it to be disjunctive, either blue or white depending on a single switch (maybe press once for white, again for blue, again for off).

I think i can run the wires down the drivers side and hide that pretty easily. but going up the bracket and back down and around the hood is going to be more difficult. your suggestion with paint is good. but what can be used to secure it?

what do you think?

I finally got a chance to install my dipstick lights and I am delighted with the results, no pun intended. The light/switch assembly is really high class. The installation could scarcely be easier. OK perhaps a sketch of the alignment/location of the switch. You do that part by feel, under the a/c bracket avoiding any protruding hardware. This is an excellent solution to the find/replace the dipstick problem. If only Mazda had dipped the end of the dipstick tube in white paint so you could visualize it easier.

Hmmm. Great idea. I just went out and wrapped my dipstick hole with thick white weather stripping and it sure makes a difference. It's not holding so good because I didn't degrease the tube well. Multiple turns of double-sided foam tape should work too. This may make the hood mount more appealing.

Edit: Improvement -- I used 3/16 inch thick white weather stripping, sticky one side. Clean the oil off the tube. Cut off a 4 inch piece of weather stripping. Form it into a circle, sticky side inwards. Stick the two sticky ends to each other so you have a loop with about a half inch tab. Holding by the tab, lower the loop over the tube so the top of the tube is flush with the top side of the loop. Squeeze it all together. Cut ofF the tab any length you want. You will have a white ring with an arrow (tab) pointing to it.
