They look pretty cool, but the hood lifting has me questioning the purchase. Is there any way to adjust it so the hood lines up perfectly?

 

I'm slightly worried about that as well, but screw it.....can always tak'em back off.

 

Wow, I remember when I bought these off ebay when they weren't know for around $80. They weren't tein, but they do the job. Best upgrade so far.

 

It was made specific for the rx-8 and is already prealigned..most people that have these already like the features of the dampers and forget about the minor lifting.

The tein dampeners are mounted to the hood with 1/8" thick brackets. These brackets go between the stock hood hinges and the hood. This lifts the hood 1/8". If you want to cut the brackets and have them custom welded to your hood hinges, that may work and not raise the hood. It will likely cost more than the dampeners do. The bracket setup is what makes these an easy bolt on. Having seen these on cars in person, I didn't so much notice the hood being raised as I could see the edge of the bright green strut between the hood and fender. Therefore, I'll just get them painted black and call it a day.

 

Sounds like the right plan. When I get them.......I may still try to work something out.
