I have to say that I had a blast this weekend! Everything was great...from the hospitality to the parade laps and the $20 dyno pulls and the gifts. I was very proud to see so may Mazdas there. I thought I had an original license plate (WNKL PWR) but there was two other 8s there that had WANKEL on theirs. It made me chuckle. Great show! I WILL BE BACK NEXT YEAR! Thank you very much to those in charge!!!

The weekend was super! Can't say enough about how well the Corral was handled. The price is an absolute bargain. Unlike most sporting events, concessions were also inexpensive and plentiful. Was great chatting with other owners, especially fuztupnz and alnielsen. The racing was all one could ask for and spectator access couldn't have been better. Super!

Very glad I went!

Glad you all had a great time and we're proud to have so many great Mazda owners come out and support the event! We'll have more for 2012, so get ready! Marlon

Here's a few e mails I have received regarding the event:

Marlon,

I wanted to extend my thanks to you for all your work on bringing out the many Mazda owners this weekend. The turnout was great and everything worked smoothly as always between our staff and your volunteers. Any compliments or complaints that yourself or your club has please share. Any way that we can improve or continue what works I would love to hear. Again many thanks for your assistance and patronage this weekend, it’s always a pleasure working with you and look forward to next year.

Thank you,

Stephen Timms
Marketing & Promotions Coordinator

Outstanding work, Marlon and Lauri…we truly need more people like you…

Thanks for all the effort everyone…this is how it should work!

Talk again soon-

John

John M. Doonan
Director, Mazda Motorsports

This is a testament to the Mazda owners that come out and support the events. Many thanks to you for making us making Mazda #1 in Grand-Am corrals!

It was great. My only complaint had nothing to do with the Mazda corral. I was bummed about the parade laps being so late (6:45 PM). Last year they were in the middle of the day. I can understand if they just didn't have time to fit it in, but having it at the end of the day seems a bit pointless in a way, and it was too late for my plans with my 9-year old son with me. The parade laps were possibly my favorite part of the trip last year.

I had a great time at the event. Thanks Marlon, Lauri and Mazda Motorsports.
It was nice to meet my fellow forum buddies in person.
Next year I will bring my RX-8.
I think I can put down better numbers than Al (175 HP)
2 Dyno pulls for $20.00 don't get much better than that!

Man, the prices for Grand-Am tickets are incredibly inexpensive. I love that about this series. American Le Mans pricing is significantly higher.

Here is the a quick video from the Castrol Folks From Mid-Ohio

All,

The link below takes you to a short video recap we put together of the Mid-OH event. Echoing what everyone else said earlier we enjoyed being part of the show and look forward to more in ’12. While video production isn’t what we do as a ‘job’, I think it’s at least a serviceable effort that captures the excitement for those who weren’t there…plus we’ve got Timko and his panda hat on video for all eternity.

Anyway hope you all like it and feel free to use any way you want. We’ll add to our FB, our site and get out to the rest of our club network.

Thanks,

Mark & Shine Box Guys

PS – blast your speakers and watch in HD full screen for best effect

As far as I know, I did at 173 Hp. This is of the 4 cars that I was around for. There was at least one other RX8 that I didn't see and there could have been more.

^^ the dyno couldn't keep up with the 8's rpm. All of the graphs stopped at ~6500 and were supposedly scaled to match. Watching the run, the tach readout on the screen just bounced around everywhere. The dyno struggled with this all day. I didn't see any reason to do any pulls because of this.

In comparison to other 8's that day, Al was king.
