EDIT: Unfortunately, most of the car numbers on the 2009 list are not in use this year and a few of those car numbers listed are in use by another team. For example, last years Penske cars. So I guess the answer is to monitor 450.000-470.000 Thursday and Friday to see if I can link freqs with teams. Then again, I may leave my scanner stuff at home and just enjoy the festivities.
As of today, I'm 90% sure I'll be there. I just got a new scanner (to replace an older one) and I want to try it out.

Maybe we should get together Friday evening and exchange notes to update the lists. I'll be hanging at the Grass Roots Motorsports hospitality area when not roaming the garage and track. The GRM area is in Lake Llyod Area West at the end of the hospitality/reserved parking areas. There will be a GRM banner hanging at the entrance I think. Look for the old guy with the black RX-8 hat with flames. I'll PM you my cell.

Another list

Here is yet another list of Grand-Am freqs. There is a good bit of duplication with the other lists, but more alternate freqs are listed. This list was obviously compiled based on 2009 events, so there are teams/cars that are not running this year and the accuracy is questionable.

Once a team is issued a FCC licence for a frequency(s), they don't typically change them. The only question is when they change car numbers or the new teams.

Any word on parade laps?
This would make the different whether I drive down from Northern Va or not.
My co driver dropped out and the flights are very reasonable.
Anyone one want to share driving my RX-8 to Daytona?

As far as I know, Marlon was working on the parade laps for Friday night...don't hold me to it though.

And it looks like I'm out for the trip down...we just had a schedule change Marlon and I will be on duty that weekend. I tried to talk my way out of it but being a rookie cop doesn't have many perks, haha. Give everyone my best...

Thanks for the response Adam.
I picked up plane tickets yesterday for $230.00 roundtrip and a rental for $30/day
Any recommendations on motels or should I just bring some camping gear.

Who's Adam? Not me man...my name is Nic. If you're speaking of Adam Whitener...I used to work with him at Roar Racing.

Anyways, there is Mazda dedicated camping area. It's always a good time when getting to camp out with a bunch of rotards! We had a blast at VIR this past Oct doing just that.

Parade laps are a little iffy at the moment, logistics and time, I have a slight hope that we'll be able to get one in, can't guarantee it. Also, Eric Meyer of Meyer Motorsports will be in attendance, he is going to talk about his new RX-8 build for 2011.

He will offer a lot of insight of what it takes to run and own a race team as well.

Oops, I was referring to Adam of Roar Racing.
Camping sounds fun, just a little concerned about the cold weather in FL last week

Hey guys I'm definitely going to be there this year in the firetruck (Speed 3), problem is I already bought my tickets - is there a way to swap out for the Mazda corral tickets?

There will be an updated Frequency list at the Grand-Am trailer available to teams and fans. It will be at the back of this trailer:

http://gallery.me.com/meyermotorspor...&bgcolor=black

Lots of good printed info there including lap time sheets (available about 15 minutes after each session ends). Ask for Lucie at the back of the trailer and she might give you some Rolex and Continental stickers if your polite. Don't ask for them early in the day---wait until the 24 race when things are not busy for her. A pocket size 2010 rule book is an awesome little reference guide too---great airplane reading. Ask for one of those.

Stay at the "MAYAN INN" on the Daytona beach. Easy to get to. Exit the track, turn right on Intl' Speedway drive and head to the ocean. When you get to the strip it's at your 11 o'clock about a block away. Cheap place and for an extra $10 a night your on the beach. About $60 a night plus tax. Here's the bonus: RIGHT next door is this killer little pub with great deep fried seafood "Ocean Deck". My record is 3 nights in a row there. Live music, cold draft beer, low prices and tons of race fans (and drivers and crew). Th and Fri night.

Near the Mayan Inn, just north of the pier, there is a banked oval kart track on top of one of the buildings. I don't know if it is open during the cooler season there.

It should be open, about the only places that open and close with the seasons down here are citrus farms and their related stores.

Contact Daytona and see if you can exchange them, if not I am sure you can find a buyer for them at the track.

I was having problems with the 866-500-tixx so I called directly to Daytona Int. Ticket office and they transfered me to the group buy agent if you have problems getting thru call 386-681-5530.

hope this helps.
see you all there

Alrighty, I'll give it a shot, thanks!

EDIT: FYI for anyone looking to buy Mazda corral tickets, they are sold out! It sounded like they may have been willing to deal on the ticket swap, but they really can't do much about a sold out event. Either way I'll try and swing by at some point during the race, hope you guys have a good time!

Also, some of my friends are asking if they can get in on the $55 deal without owning Mazdas. I know the answer is probably a resounding NO, but I figured I'd be a nice guy and ask anyway.

Just park you car in the Mazda Corral, I think the issue is that all of the camping spaces are sold out. I have no issue with Mazda owners parking in the corral area, which is near the old dog track area.

I will not be driving my RX-8 to the track. I assume that my non Mazda rental is not welcome in the corral. Any suggestions on where to park close by to the Mazda experience activities?
