Yes! This time I got it.
It went out before I could put a custom message in it. It just says "Received."
I'll get right on it.

ABSOLUTELY! ANYONE who signs up for ANY other tuning service from some unknown / mystery tuner (a la Fluid Motorsports) is a complete retard anf frankly...is just throwing away their money.

Can anyone explain exactly what this 'tuning' does?? Serious question, no flames please... I'm really thinking about getting one from MM.

In short:

Mazda left some power on the table and did some things in the factory tuning that are less than optimal for a variety of reasons, including EPA/CAFE mandates, the possibility of an owner being a bonehead and using crap gas, etc.

The recalibration I offer tunes each individual car in a way that wouldn't have been possible for Mazda to do and add in customizations like turning off the CEL for people that take out their CAT, cranking up the oil metering, raising the idle and REV limit, etc.

How was that for a nice answer? lol

Great! Thanks for the answer, I went to your website and watched the video...seems pretty easy to install, provided you turn on the car.

I'm gonna pm you in a second..

LULZ.

Yes, turning the key to "ON" is very important!
You are already pages ahead of many of your brethren. Carry on!

Jeff's a sucker for dyno days, trust me... I know. :D:
Just don't make him dyno 20 RX-8's in one day and you'll be alright.

MM: This is probably a ridicilous question (that's how it goes when I don't know how things work :D) but would you see any differences due to gas quality on the maps/logs if someone got crappy gas? And is there a difference from the Europe guys to the US cars in that way? We've got 95 and 98 RON but I'm presuming it's pretty much samey same as your 91/93, and I fill 95.

MazdaManiac 03-27-2009 06:47 PM

Bad gas will have more effect on your mileage that power, provided it isn't detonating.
Your 95 is like our 89, but probably has less ethanol in it.

neXib 03-27-2009 07:05 PM

Heard someone said there was no point filling 98 so I've never done that (that might have been one of those unweighted statements by someone though), but could try for mileage reasons and calculate the difference.

Well, if the grade you are using now doesn't detonate, produces adequate economy and is what you are using when you send me your logs, then I'd say to stick with it.

alz0rz 03-28-2009 01:25 AM

I -never- had a problem with the MM tuning process. I got a total of 4 performance calibrations before my car was totaled. And that was in the span of 1 1/2 months, I usually waited 2 weeks to send logs.

Just be EXACT with the e-mails and logs you send and you should be good!

I test drove an RX8 today and I have to say I ABSOLUTELY FELT the difference between my car and that stock 8. This was a "new" car with less than 200 miles on it so compression was fine. Between the AP tuning and my midpipe (mazsport) I really felt something.

Thanks Jeff.. i'm in my old beater mx3 now.. but when you support the 09s.. and i'm down that road.. we shall meet again. :)

Im an uber n00b when it comes to ECU tuning, but what is logs? Can't process this, had a really tough and frustrating week...

EinHeisserSchrei 03-28-2009 08:19 AM

Jeff,

I got my Revision 1. Thank you! When do you want me to do logs for it?

Logs are made via the AccessPort when it's connected to the ECU. It contains all the information Jeff needs to increase power and torque by way of editing numerical values.

If you own the AP and are working with Jeff and made a log you would be able to see what it looks like in Excel as it is an Excel file once loaded onto a computer. Then you might understand the way it works better :)

jsjjr 03-28-2009 08:59 PM

Dammit, I just ordered one....

Oh ok, thanks for the help.

andrew_RX8 03-31-2009 12:58 AM

MM: i know i pmd u like a few mins back about my Apexi SAFC and if it will work alongside the AP but i have another! LoL.. i know that Cobb Tuning says on there website NOT to use the stage one map that comes with the accessport if ur running catless or with a midpipe cause it could cause the rx8 to lean out to dangerous levels...so how exactly would this work cos im buying alz0rz's accessport and would obviously have to run the stage one map until i get a custom tuning from you... is it safe?
