Exclamation BAD/GOOD GUYS - getemslough + rotaryboi

Getemslough - NOT BAD GUY! PLEASE READ EXPLANATION IN POST #25!

ORIGINAL POST: (FOUND TO BE NOT ACCURATE)
User PM'd me to buy Lebren LED Light: "hey there! i live in lexington va so i could meet up with you one day next week. id like the lebren and the rear accent. let me know. thanks! geoff"

After I replied with email address, he then emailed a FAKE paypal email (from getemslough@yahoo.com) confirmation for payment, probably expecting me to ship before I logged into Paypal.

User followed with another email stating: "i sent a paypal payment of $60 to you for the lebren. i dug around in my workshop and found my old rear accent. this way you wont need to part out the accent set. the extra $10 should cover shipping and any paypal fees."

he's saying the buyer didnt pay but instead sent a FAKE payment email designed to look like a real email from paypal. seems like the "buyer" tried to trick him into sending the item before the seller actually checked paypal

those type of fake paypal emails are getting more and more common. Had the same thing happen to me with a craigslist buyer for my PC. The email looks crazy legit but when you start reading it you start seeing a lot of grammar issues and spelling mistakes lol.

But who sends an item without checking their Paypal account first anyway to make sure the money is there?

I know lots of people who've done that. I know it sounds dumb, but please always check your Paypal account before sending the item out!

What I don't get is it seems like the guy wanted to meet up to get the item, so shipping wouldn't have been involved.

I never use this site for much but I can vouch for Geoff (getemslough). He's my best friend and is legit. This guy has his information wrong. Geoff would never try to con anyone and is a straight shooter. Its a shame people always put other people on blast without even trying to figure a situation out first.

Yeah I'm Geoff and I created this profile 5 years ago just for this occasion! Its amazing how people can turn the smallest mis-communication into the biggest attempt of frauding someone out of $60.. wow

If it helps convince you... http://www.facebook.com/matthew.defino I only posted to inform people on this site that this guys posts are bullshit. its not worth arguing on the internet but the op needs to step in here and fix the fact that he is ruining geoff's reputation over nothing.

Hey all,
I can definitely vouch for Geoff. I bough the Racing Beat REVi from him a couple months ago. He was one of the most helpful people ive met on this site. The paypal process went very smoothly, and I got the intake pretty quickly. He even checked up every few days after that to see if I got it on without any problems! He's a great guy, and a great seller. Haters....

Okay, so here goes. I have determined the problem with this transaction, and have updated the original post to indicate that getemslough is not a bad guy. (If a MOD can update the title of this thread, to “Good Guy – getemslough” that would be much appreciated.)

First of all, I have NOT been ignoring Geoff today, but rather have worked all day and my phone has been off. I texted him back as soon as I got off work.

Now, I would like to publically send my sincere apologies to Geoff [getemslough] for the mis-understanding and hasty accusation of trying to scam me for the LEBREN. I can now see why this was NOT the case. I had reviewed his previous itrader posts and did find it would have been out of character compared to the posts I read.

Here are the reasons I *wrongly* assumed Geoff was trying to scam me, and that the PayPal email was fake when I didn’t see the money in my PayPal account: (Note that I had JUST received a PayPal payment for another item, and was comparing the emails as shown in the screenshot below.)
Name: LebrenPayPal.jpg
Views: 52
Size: 121.3 KB

1 – Geoff’s email did not contain any Transaction ID number.
2 – I was addressed by email address rather than first and last name.

3 – Geoff *DID* include his address for shipping.
4 – I had only received one payment in my PayPal account, from Ryan.
5 - The title of Ryan's email was "You've got money" and Geoff's was "Payment for lebren".

I feel that given these 5 things, many people would jump to the conclusion that they were being scammed.

Now here is the reason the payment never showed up. Admittedly, I didn’t even think about this possibility until the past hour, on my drive home from work.

- When I dealt with Ryan, I messaged him on the forum saying to send payment to “Kris.Rollins(at)gmail(dot)com.”
- When dealing with Geoff, we switched to email to determine that pickup was no longer an option, and I told him he could “send payment to this address.”

What I didn’t think of, is that gmail shows up as coming from “googlemail(dot)com”. When Geoff sent payment to “Kris.Rollins(at)googlemail(dot)com.” That alternate address was not linked to my PayPal account even though I receive email to it. I have since added the account so this does not happen again. The problem was a simple “oogle” in the address Geoff used.

While I am sorry this has occurred, I have tried being scammed before and have no tolerance for it. This is why I was so quick to blast Geoff on the boards. Also, I would like to point out that I had not yet posted an iTrader for Geoff, hoping that there was an explanation.

Geoff, Please accept my apologies for the misunderstanding. Since you have cancelled the payment, if you would like to re-send, I would be glad to ship the LEBREN tomorrow. Otherwise, please let me know as there is another user interested.

Thanks,
Kris Rollins
