hehe, no kidding.

There's a difference between "daily driven" and reliable, maintenence costs and periods, warranty coverage, etc.

If you bring aftermarket into it, there's a number of sedans that can theoretically run in the 12s for a lot less than the E55 or RS6, etc.

There's also a huge difference in luxury sedans - the E55, M5, RS6 qualify - a Lexus IS300 is NOT anywhere close to being a luxury sedan in the same sense as an E55.

I highly agree. I wouldn't categorize either the modena or the IS300 as a luxury sedan.

I think you missed my point - no matter how fast you make it, an IS300 isn't a luxury sedan. It's missing out on the luxury, which is offered in an E55 or RS6. An IS300 is no more a luxury sedan than a BMW 330i is - it's a sports sedan, at best an entry-level luxury sedan. As far as luxury goes, the E55, RS6, or M5 are leagues beyond an IS300. it doesn't matter how fast they are if you're discussing the luxury part of the classification!

Regards,
Gordon

You can build it to have 1000 hp, but at the end of the day, it's STILL an IS.

I'd take an M3, M5, S4, or RS6 any day of the week over even the fastest IS in the world.

I doubt even Toyota's legendary reliability and overengineering would hold up when you turbo a NA engine and make it put out more than three times its stock power rating. That's why, instead of spending $80k on an IS300, I would spend ~$50k on a (maybe slightly used) Z06, mod it, and run 10's all day long. But hey, whatever floats your boat...

If the fastest IS was a daily driven car and not just for the race track I wouldn't mind having it over the M3. If he can spend 80k on its performance I guarantee he can also spend on his repairs, so I don't think that guy has nothing to worry. Mmmm run 10's on Z06... what kind of mods are u talking about... if just headers, exhaust; those simple mods can't give u 10's with z06. My friend has a z06 "a wonderful car I might add," he supercharged it, replace pistons, rods, exhaust, the whole nine yards and his running high 9's low 10's. If running 10's float your boat than go on right ahead.
