It is my understanding that many window tint installers are using computerized lazer systems to cut the film. The installer just enters the car's year/make/model and presto they have perfectly cut film for the installation. If this is true, how long will it be before they will have the rx-8 programmed into one of these systems?

Any information regarding this technique would be appreciated.

 

Yea, I really want to tint the windows but im wondering how much its going to cost to get tinted and what % is legal in VA? Don't most cars come tinted stock or does it differ from state?

 

In KY, at least, it's 60% front, 80% rear. I always go 60% all around for that even look. The Miata has mirror tint, so it doesn't really look tinted at all, but since the RX-8 has black window trim, black may be better.

FWIW, most tint shops will tint beyond the legal limit, but will not put the "This Tint is Legal" sticker on the door or guarantee the product.

Tinting an RX-8 (Five windows with one curved) should not be more than $150. It's always the first thing I do to my cars.
