Mazda could really have something if they can make this compression ignition work they way they want. I'm really hoping they get it figured out. I tend to agree with what he said about the small displacement turbos, and we all know CVTs are garbage.

But they ARE using 2.5l turbo4 in place of a v6 for the bigger vehicles. Maybe this is strictly a cost/benefit calculation vs. developing an all-new V6.

Good article, with good insights into Mazda’s engineering thinking. I love how this little company isn’t afraid to buck conventional thinking.
