It acts as a diffuser to help air get out from below the car faster. And those ricer civics that you are talking about, prob trap 10sec or faster in the 1/4.

Yep, air gets trapped under the rear bumper and creates drag. You usually only see this mod on drag cars though. STR makes these for this purpose.

If you see it on a stock street car then it is "Rice".

Not if the Civic they are on is at the 1/8th mile and you haven't even broke the 60ft mark yet.

We had a guy back home with a EG Hatch that was stripped minus an aluminum dash, steering wheel, pedals, seat and cage, and had a k24/k20 frank motor in it with a healthy shot of the giggle gass and he had those in the rear bumper, but he was also going through the traps at 10 and a half seconds.

I have owned a few fast Honda's over the last 15 years, call them what you want but every Honda I have owned would embarrass 99% of the RX8's on this board on a drag strip (yes I know the 8 is not a drag car so save your comments). But every car has it's strong points and with Honda's the engine are just bullit proof.

I ducked out before the K series swap became common and that engine is great.

The holes help prevent drag. If you've ever owned one that was fast then you would understand. Some s2000's have part of the rear bumper removed or completely removed as well.

, This is right down my alley. I was one of those "ricers" that would blow the doors off of anything that I came across. Problem is, the car is so light and trying to catch traction is a bitch. Today anytime I come across a properly built hatch, I can't help myself but smile. (I didn't care what anyone said)

I hate the term "rice". My dad used to call my Civic rice even though it would smoke his Vette (69') in every way.

I wish I'd known when I had a civic
Holes in bumper, fart-can exhaust = fast

I would have saved so much money...

i can't believe how much they have refined those motors. would've been nice to have the roller rockers replace the slippers on the older heads.
