"Hey, I want to bring some clout to our diminishing racing name. I know, let's take it straight to Audi at Le Mans in an LMP1 car." Seems to have worked for Toyota, and before them Peugeot. Both manufactures had long departure from prototype racing, and came back specifically to challenge at Le Mans. Both went the WEC route as apposed to the ALMS route, but came out swinging for the fences. Neither could knock Audi off the top first year out, but Peugeot won the over all in year 3. Toyota still has a chance and have proven to be more than just slight worry. Both will go down in history for challenging the giant in LMP1 win or lose.

So yeah, not shooting for a global series or even race is lamesauce. At least they'll keep their loyal US fan base for as long as Tudor can hold it.
