I'm sure they were not put there for that purpose but it would be cool if these could create some kind of HUD by reflection on the windshield!

 

they've done this.

new corvettes... i think z06 and up have this feature... as well as some cadillacs. displays speed and engine speed i think. speed for sure.

i've even seen prototype units from a few years ago that had an ir camera in the front of the car and that image was in a HUD... Deer detection at it's best!

 

luxury GM vehicles (like buick) have had heads up displays for at least the last 15 years. if not 20 years.

 

High end Mercedes too.

 

yeah but they've had some sort of a "screen" on the windsheild so the light wouldn't go right through. Kindof defeated the whole purpose...

 

^ yeah the ones i'm talking about are reflected off of or are beamed through the actual glass. these just came out in the last five years, give or take a couple.
