Weird problem with mazda 3 radio

So my sister drives a mazda 3 (05 or 06 I can't remember) and when she turns the car on the radio will work for about 5 seconds, she can change stations and hear sound and all that, but after those 5 seconds, all sound goes away, music, beeps from station changes, etc. She has powered it on and off, all the things you'd think of. I don't think it's a fuse, because the speakers will work for the first 5 or so seconds the car is on.

Does anyone have any ideas or ideas where to start looking for the problem?

If you PM the VIN to me I can try to help. That would give me all the info as to what unit this may be.

Paul.
