This is one of the most coveted awards each year.
There has been a couple of heavey weight entrants this year including the BMW 3 series, Passat, Jettah, Civic, Charger, Fusion, Impressa, etc...
and the winner is............

And the car has only been out for how long?? MT has no credibility in their COTY what so ever... perfect example is the Ford Thunderbird...

Remember this: the Chevy VEGA was a Motor Trend COTY - the award means absolutely nothing.

I agree that MT has ZERO CREDIBILITY regarding picking truly great cars.

The new Civic is one fugly bastard, IMO. And the interior is even worse.

Bleh.

I would like to know what others suggest, and why.

I think the civic, especially consindering the SI, is a perfectly reasonable choice.

Wow - that list says it all. Ralph Nader would not be impressed with their 1960 choice - lol.
K-cars, Alliance, Caravans - sounds like a who's who in POS automobile manufacturing.

theres obviously tons of contenders, but its not about how nice a car is... other wise itd always be the most expensive luxury performance car... I dont see why civic dosnt deserve it... its a great car and stands for great engineering, drivability, performance, styling amongst other things for its segment. I personally would go with the infiniti M or bmw 3 series, but I certainly cant go against this pick, its a great pick.

plus it's base fuel economy and hybrid versions. i would get a Si as a daily driver to compliment the 8.

I would rather wipe my *** with MT than read it when on the toilet. And magazine pages hurt my anus.

MT = crappy journalism funded my manufacturers that buy good results.

The Civic is ugly and WAYYYY overpriced. Nice investment Honda, way to buy that award.

You are probably at $22k then and then you HAVE to use premium. Besides, the Si did not win the COFTY award the entire Civic did. The Si accounts for what 10% of all sales tops??

Barring the S2k, the current honda/acura lineup is terrible imo. Ill take my 5g prelude over the Si and RSX anyday.

Because the Prelude is heavier, doesn't handle as well, is slower, and gets worse gas mileage? I think the '06 Civic is a very good choice for COTY.

At least they voted for the 1969 Plymouth Road Runner. One out of like 55 isn't that bad. LOL.
