Well got bored last night and started pulling the engine apart. I am having to send the procharger in to have a seal replaced, and for the month TAT I am going to be doing body work on the engine compartment and hiding all the wiring in the fenderwalls. So hopefully by time the blower is back I will have a freshly painted clean looking engine compartment for it. Haven't been to the track but I did get to play with a modded EVO last saturday night. He was fast but I gave him the jump @40 mph (around 2 cars) and around 85mph I was passing him and would put another 2-3 cars by 110 if he didnt get out of it (at the track of coarse) I hope I can get this project done by christmas.

Before

After (dirty from all the color sanding)

I painted my brother's Mustang a few months ago. It turned out decent, but not as well as yours. Great job.

Could we get a tutorial?

got about two hours of work in tonight yanked the front bumper, driverside fender, intercooler and piping, yanked the main harness, fuse boxm and all misc wires and wire harness from the driverside. Once I account for all wiring routing I will attach to the inside of the fender.

state of garage

driverside cleaned of clutter and wires

routing behind the fender

Overall project is going smooth, ill keep updating the pics...

Man, I think I found the answer to my problem with mustangs. I usually dislike the driver because they are cocky, and think nothing is faster than there V8, but I've yet to see that from you. Correction: I still don't like Mustangs, but this one looks pretty f#&@ing mean. I'm always a fan of people doing stuff themselves, so I just wanted to say that this looks like a really great car.

Keep posting some pics! And a timeslip? Since, it looks like it's for drag...

congrats on the skill and dedication to do it yourself. I can admire anyone who puts the kind of effort into their car you have shown. (the polar opposite being the rich pieces of **** who buy a car, use daddy's money to pay someone else to do the work and then think they are special)

Anyways - I wanted to also compliment you on your garage - i would KILL to have a garage like that where I could work on stuff. My current situation is living in a hotel (going on 1.5 years now) due to work/business , they pay for it though. But it's freezing cold here now and i wanna go outside and work on my sound system but its in a parking lot, dark, cold, and not as safe as I'd like it to be. If i had your garage I'd be in hog heaven.

Cheers,
Jeff

Doing projects gets me away from my old lady. Car was fine but since my procharger seals took a dump on me and the car will be down for a month anyway, i figured I'd repaint the engine bay to match the paint on the exterior. Its gawd awful right now. That paint is 14 years old in there.

Ill have to take a pic of a time slip and post it up I havent been to the track in over 3 years. I have since rebuilt the motor. I think the ones I have are in the 12.6-12.7 range @ 113-116 mph @ 5 psi with a 2.1 60ft.

I was lucky to find an apartment complex that offers attached garage. I dont think the complex would like it if I was sparying my car in the parking lot. lol

In 5 years i'll have a new car and the Rx8 will be in a hundred pieces in my garage.

I remember the 1st 5.0 I drove, it was a vert and everytime you stepped on the gas it would lay some nice rubber down. I can see why they are so popular. I wish I had the skills and the patients to do 'projects' like that. How can you NOT respect that? Is that your hobby or your profession, either way keep up the good work!

Not my profession, I just read alot of books and stay reading the internet. Just doing that fabricating and shaving of the lock in the first few posts probably took me 4 hours of grinding and sanding to get it just right. A profesional could have done it in 30 mins I would suspect.

Anyways, I have only spent about 3-5 hours this week working on the car.

Here is the extent of my progress

The procharger laid down so much oil in the engine compartment cleaning it has been a real B****. The primer won't adhere if the surface isnt just right but I hop to be laying down primer by next friday. Ive already stumbled across a few bad harness's that may have caused some electrical gremlins from time to time and the supercharger is at ATI now so hopefully have it back by X-mas. I also received a new radiator ($110) too replace my 14 year old one. There was an awful alot of rust in the coolant even though It only is a year old.

John

P.S. here is the requested dyno from 2-3 years ago @5 PSI

Top line is 443HP 463 TQ, u can see @3000RPM Im already over 400 TQ

Talking

Got it primered this afternoon like I planned, I filled a couple of those small drilled holes on the strut towers and it looks alot better.

Everything went smoothly except for when my circuit breaker went while i was in the middle of painting, I should be layin base/clear tomorrow if I dont have a bad hangover.

John

sorry to keep bumping this post but I have made significant progress today.

Layed the clear down perfectly and got my procharger back from being remanufactured.

Finished up bolting on a few things tonight including my blower, misc fuel components, accessories, and my radiator. Should have this thing running by friday. Also had to modify a bunch of wiring harness's to make them fit in their new locations.

Getting closer, I opted for a smaller air filter that hugs the strut tower. It really opens up the driver side header area. I also removed the EGR valveand all the non essential emmisions equipment. I still have to wite up the ground and +12 to the MSD BTM, do some plumbing of the air to air and add fluids and I should hopefully fire this thing up thursday or friday. Compare this pic to the one on post #26 and youll see how many wires and cables I hid.

Update on progress

Before

Now

Also I met a guy in my complex with a badass car, he has a mid 90's 240SX with a full LS1 swap out of a C5 vette. It puts down 406 rwhp. Now I gotta swap pulleys and get meth injection. I can't be the 2nd fastest in my complex...

Pistons suck!! Haha just joshin

Sweet *** ride, the things gotta too much fun. 600+rwhp on a 3.73 rear end??!!! That's just downright crazy! I wouldn't put that much powwa to the rear wheels without a different rear-end, that can't be very streetable.
But still 450+ rwhp is ridiculous. And get some spy shots of that LS1 powered 240!! That's sick!!!
