You guessed it yourself, you were wrong, the original 1st gen RX-7 was indeed available in yellow. And I could be mistaken on this, but I believe the 1st gen's yellow was only available during the first year as well, just like the FD & RX-8.

If the mazda yellow was that color I probably would have gotten yellow. I wanted the bumblebee colors (yellow, yellow/black). In fact, I was all ready to get the yellow until I saw more pictures of it. The first few pictures of the yellow 8 I saw looked like it was the color of that Z. Then I saw a few that were definitely a few shades lighter. Disappointing because I think the bumblebee look is awesome.

It's kinda funny how so many people are so defensive here tho. :O I would love a Z. I just liked the 8 better myself (and it was more practical by far).

Hey, that's me, the bumblebee! For those that don't know Japanese, "hachi" has several meanings. One is "8", which is kind of obvious, but another meaning is "bee" or "wasp".

I was talking to my salesman yesterday, he was saying they had one of the yellow Zs in the showroom over the weekend. One of three yellow convertibles on the east coast, I believe. Anyway, he said this guy came in, walked around it a few times, and said "I'll take it." Including the +20% "adjusted dealer price!" Same guy comes back in, 20 minutes later, and says, "Can anyone tell me how to put it in reverse?" :D :D :D

It's hard to capture the true yellow colour without seeing it in person . The camera doesn't really catch the colour.

Here's the most accurate picture I have

It only makes the yellow a rare sight , here in Australia i am led to believe that there have been a total of 45 yellow cars sold probably only 40% manual out of 1700 RX8 approx for the year .

If the RX8 runs for a 7 year period with average annual sales of 1500 PER annum , Total sales of 13,300 approx and only 45 yellows it will indeed be a rare colour . :D

cheers

I am not a big fan of yellow cars, but whatever floats your boat, mate.
I like my big red.

Right on!

I'll admit that the yellow wasn't my first choice (titanium was) but when I went to buy it they only had the yellow one left. I don't really know how long that I'll keep the car for but I'm hoping that the color makes it stand out.

As far as comparing 350's to 8's. Both cars rock but the 8 is more practical.
