Traded RX8 for 02 Corvette Z06

Just kidding!!!
I would never trade the 8 for a Corvette. A whole different monster. I do have to admit: Bang for the buck, you can't beat the vette. The car is a pure muscle car and it feels like a handful. You can get in trouble fast in this car. A friend of mine left it in my garage when we went to Sebring. I got a lot of flack from my neighbors (too many toys already). Now, if the vette had a usable rear seat and the practicality and nimbleness of the 8, I would have seriously have considered the Corvette.

Hmm your car doesn't handle any better than the vette in the weather. We are both rear wheel drive. Two totally different cars, practicality is that the vette gets better gas mileage and handles a whole lot better. In the weather my traction control brings me nicely through it which is probaly equal to the 8. As far as speed and looks, we all know the result. If you're worried about a rear seat then i'm glad you bought an 8. Sorry

well i'm going to agree with you on being totally different cars. the traction control on the vettes is nice too. but about handling a whole lot better, i'll give you better.

my friend's vette handles better than my 8 sure, but i don't know about a whole lot better.

then there's looks, though not entirely subjective, a lot of it is. personally i do prefer the look of the vette, even though i own an 8. but when it came down to it, i really prefer the feel of the 8- and the price tag.

that's a pretty darn good price...now if i could only afford a c6 to sit next to my 8 i'd be one seriously happy camper.

LMAO

My friend has a 2003 Vette (as well as a few others from the 50's and 60's) and his gas mileage is no better than mine (ave. 16 to 17 mpg). He wouldn't dare to drive his Vette in the winter here in Nebr. -- lower torque, 50/50 weight centered in the vehicle and narrower tires, make the 8 vastly superior in winter driving. The Vette's engine is a thing of beauty (as is the rotary in a different way) but exterior looks is a toss-up.

Oh well -- gotta love the forum newbie Vette owner who just wants to have a pissing contest :p Most people here could have had a new Vette and chose the 8 for other reasons. For me no matter how great/fun the Vette is -- it can't match the thrill of winding out the rotary to 9k and watching my two kids smile in the back seat :D Something that could never happen in that faster, prettier, better handling, much more awesome ... ... ... ... whatever.

so many on here argue one car handles better then another without offering any facts or reasons why they think so. What makes one car handle better then another skidpad, 0-60? In the end who the hell cares just enjoy whatever car you have.

i love the ls1. by far one of the greatest ever produced. and buck for buck, you can't beat the vette, *although the interior leaves a little to be desired* but as far as handling better? i guess it depends on how you drive the car. the 8 is a bit better balanced, as well as way way lighter. vette owners would never take their cars to the canyons because cars like the 8 would end up piling up behind it. i guess i can be biased, the ones i run into in the hills tended to be lumbering and unyieldy. just my 2 cents

RXHuscker: You're crazy to have your kids in the back and you're at 9 rpms. That is just pure idiotic. Second my friend has an 8 and can't drive in the winter at all. He says he can't get any traction and he is not a BSer at all. Anyway if you think cruising at 80 with the top down in a vette isn't as good if not better than you definately deserve what ya got. Pissing contest is not what is being discussed, you like others say a lot of crap about the cars of others and you are wrong and inaccurate. Those of you that do know who you are. Those that don't i have no complaint against and they know i mean nothing against them.

The GTO will have the same engine, I guess that will be more bang for the buck.

9k in 2nd is a little over 60 mph - since when was that CRAZY If your friend can't get traction in his 8 he probably can't read either -- as in "these tires are for summer use only" that is printed in the owners manual. I can't see anything I said about anyone else's car in my post -- other than "the Vette's engine is a thing of beauty". I guess that is what you are calling a lot of crap :p Sorry you feel that way about your own car. I guess I appreciate it more than you do.

I'd like to reiterate this. You seem to have a big chip on your shoulder, and pretty much every post you've made so far has been some kind thinly veiled attack. Not sure what's up with you, but calm down.

I'll play and by the way, I concurr with Elara. The Corvette is a great car, but the 8 is a fun car to drive and practical for every day use. Time might change this, but you can't throw a rock here in Florida w/o hitting a vette. The vette will put you in the "oh, sh*t" territory, whereas the 8 will put you in the " Yeah, baby" territory. BTW, we took both cars autoxing and I beat him by over 4 seconds. Obviously, the driver had something to do with that. :D

Obviously the driver did have something to do with that!! I just don't see the comparison between the two at all. The 8 is not a practical car either as it gets the same gas mileage as the vette and handles the weather in NY not much better than the vette at all.

Go down the page and look at comments made by people with 8's towards other cars is what i'm talking about. I'm not the one with a chip on my shoulder that is bashing every car around which is what i see reiterated on this site.

Like i said in my other post, you're the guy wearing a cape and entitled as rotor man. Interesting......

There is none.

It handles the bad weather in TX just fine -Tornados, hail, rain, t-storms, suv's, etc... & it's got 4 seats for mmmm...10K less than a Vette. It is MORE practical than the vette, don't argue on this.

i guess it's funny, rather odd but ok.

The Vette handles great in the rain...actually not great but ok. It does the job. Handles t-storms everything like that. What i'm talking about is snow which in texas does not happen (Damn You on that). The 8 doesn't handle it at all. The 8 has a back seat and that is about it in practicality over the vette.

I rest my case.

But, hey, I am not blind nor stupid. I know a Vette is in a totally different, higher category. Thats why it costs more (duh!) - although I was very dissapointed at a base C5's interior...but I guess show cars in Dallas are bound to be the worst ones out there.

Hmmm -- at one point in Feb. we had 36 inches of snow on the ground (all fell within 14 days) and my 8 never had a "snow day" -- even though my son did 4 times in 2 weeks. The snow was piled so high on the sides of my driveway that you couldn't see my 8! Live at the top of a steep hill and never once couldn't make it home. Pushed snow over the top of the hood getting home one night and never once lost grip on the tires.

I don't know what your definition of "doesn't handle the snow well" is -- but it certainly must be MUCH different than mine.

cape or not, the rotor man is for real and if it comes to a pissing contest, I know for a fact that you'll pull the short one.

I'm not here too long but I know what wakeech has up his sleeves. Knowledge over knowledge. This guy knows it all and as desmo996 said, go away troll!

But to retain the topic, I'd have to say that you can't even compare these two cars. Ever heard of coupe vs sportscar? Yes, I consider the 8 to be a coupe, not a sportscar, even tho it comes close. However, until the vette comes down in price to 31k, it's still as comparing Civics to 8's.

The 8 does not go in snow. He never has his car here and that's that. The guy has no reason to lie and no reason to BS. This is why he is selling his car. Because for the money he paid he can buy a same priced car that goes in the snow and blows the doors off his car, like an Sti, evo, etc. Ahh i see you can all diss it out but can't take it. The minute some one comes on they are called a troll like the rest. Well he's tired of burning oil, getting beat by 325 bmw's and other cars that you wouldn't think could beat it. He also IS in fact getting the same if not worse gas mileage than me. YOu all think your cars are the best things around and you rank on others cars. Sorry but keep justifying yourself to this cause while it's truly not reality. Think what you may.

This guy cracks me up :p He comes into a forum -- blows false info out his pie hole. Tries to make it look like everyone on this forum bad mouths other rides -- while himself non-stop dissing the 8. Talks about performance characteristics (snow performance, handling, etc.) of a car he has never driven -- but has heard about from a guy at work -- talks out his a$$ about things that if he even had a hint of a clue about (rotarys burning oil) -- he would laugh at himself (like we all are). Somebody better tell his "buddy" at work that just because he slapped a rotor symbol on the back of that old Pontiac LeMans -- doesn't mean he can hunt down Beemers, go in the snow and that he won't burn more oil than a Peterbuilt.

And another thing -- why in the world is a Vette owner hanging out in the 8 forum -- I thought these guys spent all their time primping in the mirror and looking out the corner of their eye to see if someone is noticing them. Ohhh -- that's it he is here wanting people to notice him. You would think all that torque under the hood would give him enough of a thrill.

All I can see is that you are trolling, and have no reason to be here other than to cause problems. If you hate the car, and think we all suck, why are you here? Why are you even wasting your time on us? Do you have something useful and polite to contribute? Or something that's even based on facts? I don't believe you own a corvette, because I've never met such a hostile, rude, and mean corvette owner(not to mention, a corvette owner wouldn't get so obviously pissed off about a car that doesn't even pretend to compete with his/hers), and I don't believe your "friend" owns an 8, but rather is based on your own limited and flawed knowledge of rotary engines. I also think you're just looking for a place to troll. You've had your warning. One more post like this, and you will lose your privileges on this board.
