So because the alarm keeps going off, he sends it back? Uh, heres an idea--disconnect the damn alarm! Clarkson can be very pretentious, and this sort of behavior is a good example. But at least he loved the RX8!

I wonder where he got a GT40 from, I was under the impression that he had bought a Ford GT, which is a totally different car....

I like the part where he was given a Ford Focus Diesel Wagon as a loaner car when he left his Ford GT with the dealership. Nice service there, Ford, for your customers who just shelled out $100k+ to buy the car that is supposed to symbolize what great things you can do.

i understand what you mean, and I would get the alarm replaced at fords expense with something better (or at least something that works) but at the same time, I would be verry mad if I spent that kind of money on a car, and waited for it for some time, just to get it and have some part of it (alarm) not work perfectly.

Ive driven the FordGT a few times, its an amazing car, i feel that its on par with the Ferrari F430 (i also got to drive, amazingly enough) but if I spent that kind of money, it better work perfect from the get-go.

if i had a car that the alarm constantly went off on, and reported itself stolen multiple times a day, and after 3 attempts couldn't be fixed, i'd send it back to. i wouldn't expect that out a $12k car, let alone a $100k+ car.

I know that's messed up! You buy an expensive *** car like the GT40 and they give you a freaking Focus? Are they crazy? They could at least give him their best luxury car.

As we know from America’s arrival into the second world war, their concept of “on time” differs slightly from ours.

Now where's BlueEyes to justify this and say that the GT40 is the best car ever? :D

Typical dealer BS, hes already bought the car and (sounds like) hes paid for it in full, when he brings it in for serice, they give him a diesel focus...but when he returns the car, and gets his money back.....suddenly they give his a Aston DB9 while he 'makes up his mind'

typical.

In the exotic, low-production car world, lots of things are usually overlooked for the sake of having a unique and powerful car. Hell, Italian car buyers have been doing it forever!

So true. The posters that expect a the car to be flaw free because it costs in excess of $100k just don't know the reality of the exotic car business. There is very little engineering time spent on a low production car like a Ford GT, Ferrari or Rolls Royce compared to something like a Chevy Cobalt or RX-8. This low level of engineering means there are plenty of bugs left in the design. If these low production cars had the same level of engineering dedicated to them they would cost 10X as much.

Yea, but look at it this way, it's the alarm system! It's not like ford designed it. It's some aftermarket integrated piece that's hooked up to a ford run computer center somewhere.
I know our BMW has an immobilizer system, as did our mercedes. None of them behaved this way. The mercedes was a little oversensitive, but it didnt do this crap and the only time we ever had a problem with it was when the battery exploded in the trunk due to the texas heat. We had to get the entire trunk stereo replaced and all that cuz acid got everywhere and the doors wouldn't unlock until a new battery was hooked up.

Yeah, I get that. But all I'm saying is, if I had the opportunity to have a Ford GT, I wouldn't let some ****-ant alarm system stand in my way. I'd either disconnect it, or keep at it until it got fixed. Maybe do some research on my own to find out how the system worked--Clarkson would never bother with that. No way would I let something trivial like that keep me enjoying such a desirable car.
