Tired of electrical problems with OEm?

please for the love of all things holy, I hope OEMs start using these.

ARISO Contactless Connectivity - TE Connectivity | DigiKey

**** their cheap slip rings, and shared ground electrical bullshit. BMW had the right idea going fiber optic, but god they fucked it up so bad in the Mini Coopers.

I had my clockspring go back and it raped my Canbus. In some ways it is still bleeding, and once you have a electrical problem it only seems to spread. Isolated modules is the way to go! NOT wireless! (like Range Rover and their *disappearing* cars)

Isolated modules, isolated power, lower total power requirements, and hopefully, less problems. Now the price? Ekk for now, meh for later I hope.

Any other ideas on these? I figured I would share for those who are working in test cells and in Industrial maintenance.

These aren't for cars, and won't ever be used for cars...

It would be wasted effort. Not to mention, why would you spend an ungodly amount of money to replace some wires and a bulkhead?

Have you looked at what a slip ring for 12 conductors costs even with bulk pricing?

This a new idea just like the horse and the motorized carriage was 100 years ago. You can't say it will never be used in cars, for all you know it already is.

It's not like that at all. This is designed to be an improvement over wired connections in environments where ringed connections aren't possible or viable.

Using them in a car would be like if they invented a road going boat to replace the horse and buggy.

Not just ringed connections, any diesel engine bay. It could go from wireloom to Firewall without any interference. Engine bays are hot, so if you can cut the number of wires in half, that not only cuts the cost it cuts the troubleshooting way down and you no longer have holes and grommets in your firewall. big safety incentives there. Any tech like this that is used will drop way down in price. Why bond something electrically and increase your risks and power requirements?

The big one is fuel tanks, exhaust manifolds, exhaust parts, harnesses exposed to elements.... If you don't see the value there, then let it be.

Ill take a dukw over a horse and buggy any day.

Sounds like someone has messed up the wiring by supplying power the wrong way.

Anything aftermarket can do that - take power from the wrong fuse for your stereo and the engine is still live after key removal.

I would suspect any HID light upgrades first, pull the three Headlight fuses and see if that stops it running.

Contactless Connectivity...interesting.

I remember NEEESAN used the fibre optic cable system in the Maxima around 20 years ago, nothing but a total disaster, you just don't even see any on the roads as they wont make it past 6 years until major 'wiring' upgrade, Nissan stopped production in Japan for this very reason.

FIBRE OPTICS SOUNDS Good in theory buy hopeless in anything which is mobile or subject to breakage, oh like, cars which vibrate and crash like road accidents, let alone wear and tear.
F O can not withstand any movement or crushing, as the glass breaks, then nothing works...
Why flexible copper/alloy wiring looms will always be the car makers first choice, because they give and are flexible and easily repaired.

Yes time moves on and things may be better for BMW, but those basic facts about F O has not changed.
