The Tein show car was stolen yesterday
I just had this link sent to me and was baffled. This car was at our shop about 4 weeks ago. We made some small repairs to the body of it for them and the car is absolutely gorgeous in person. I just done see how anyone could have not noticed this thing.
www.performancepartszone.com is the link about it

You wouldnt think it would be hard to find. We drove it around here and the thing almost causes accidents on the road from people gawking at it

Odd thing to steal.
You can't just give it a quick respray or some cheap appearance changes and then drive it around.
If you just want the Honda parts there are certainly less obvious Hondas to be stolen.
You wouldn't want to chop this up for the performance parts anyway - better to smash and grab the parts new from a tuner shop and haul them away in an unmarked van.
I wonder if some out-of-country collector commissioned the job.

THe only thing they could really take would be the Turbo'ed K20, the seat/harness' and the cheap stereo. Seriously, the car doesnt have 2k worth of stereo in it, very basic. The body kit is a custom made sheetmetal widebody that is panel-bonded and welded onto the car. Be hard to salvage that if they removed it.

You can't just drive it around town - gotta be in a truck or something - if they chop it up it's like smashing a big diamond - sure you get little chunks but the value is the orginal stone itself -

meh, it's just a Honda, no big loss (I kid I kid, that was pretty stupid though, if you're going to jack a show car go after something worth more than that, odd thing to steal indeed)

Wheels, not rims!!

its gone now... most likely if they wont find it within a few hours, its already parted and distributed... lol... they might be lucky and find a chopped/sawed up civic body at the junk yard.
edit: theyre not going to leave any evidence at all. thats why i said theyve already parted everything out. the body itself will be cut into peices.

It would be tough to be an inside job. There is only one guy that has the keys to that trailer and he was parked with other trailers carrying show cars, he just happened to have 4 on his. He had the c/f Cwest S2000, the Valvoline STI, and the Chargespeed wide body, rhd, WRX on the trailer along with the Civic. I guess the civic was the last to get loaded again.
Anyways, they found the trailer locks broke adn lots of pry marks on the trailer doors.

In person it is a very nice car. Im not a fan of the civic, but the fabrication that went into that car is amazing. I like it more for its engineering and fabrication than for the actual car itself.

How easy is it to hot wire and drive that thing without its keys?
Can it be rolled by two or three guys to get it off truck and onto some other carrier?
Has a reward been offered for it being seen or parts found - sort of a real treasure hunt?
Why didn't they take any of the other machines?

Lojack is only good for one hour.
Range is 50 to 100 miles.
In that amount of time it is in Mexico, or a sheltered building/Van that blocks the GPS signal.
Or maybe they have a GPS jammer.
