if a car mag known for doing good launches and getting fast test times like C&D gets a hold of it, it should do low 4 seconds. the 350z was already capable of 5.3s by C&D back when it had 287hp

Very cool, but I'm not sure what the point of the on/off switch for the supercharger is? I mean, if you want to go slower just don't push as hard with your right foot.

probably the same reason you can go from 400 to 500hp on the M5 and M6 or the extra power you get from the overboost mode on the 911 turbo. i have no idea what that reason is either :p
as far as the tunning is concerned, i think the real question is, will it have the same internals as the GT-R engine?

Yeah, i figured the same. Turn off the s/c when driving in the city to save on some fuel consumption, and that also gives Nissan a selling point for this. Being able to up the power on the engine seems to be a trend emerging amongst car makers too, as mentioned by playdoh43, bmw and porsche also offer something along the same lines.

I agree, the ON/OFF switch, would be there for gas mileage. Its to make, double sure, that you don't have it on and are not burning extra fuel.
Plus, its like a "superman switch", which should give lots of thrills to its users. "Don't f*ck with me dude. I"ll turn the supercharger on and you will be history and so far back, I can't even see you in the rear view mirror."

I have ever only seen one mag time showing less than 5.5sec to 60 for a stock Z....most have been 5.6=5.8.....low 5s for a stock Z is like saying the 8 can consistently do 5.9sec to 60.....
