Looking to replace my 99 Ford Exploder with something used that can basically fulfill the following:

1) Tow my 8 on a 1000lb trailer for 1000 miles
2) AWD/4WD to get through NE Ohio Winters
3) Cost between 7.5 and 12.5k
4) Get 15mpg or better
5) Not fall apart in 4 years

It'll get driven close to 6 months out of the year. Right now with the tow requirement I'm basically looking at staying with Explorers. The '04 XLT models go for around 10k used with 30-50k mileage and can tow 5000k with the V6 or 7500 with the V8. I've never towed anything more than a small camper so I'm not sure if the V6 will be sufficient or if getting the V8 would make towing significantly easier.

Just looking for opinions/recommendations from other people with experience trying to meet those requirements or at least some of them. Specifically if you can mention model variants that'll help narrow down the search.
