subaru makes ugly cars
|
It's not the best looking, but it looks a lot better than some of the lunchbox cars from a few years back.
|
someone needs to put the STI engine in the RX-8. I'd buy that. Wouldn't be as smooth as the rotary but it would give the speed to go with the awesome styling of the 8
|
If you think the outside is ugly (personally I could live with it and call it a tradeoff for performance), you're in for a rude awakening when you see the interior.

You haven't seen an Aztek in all its horrid glory unless you've seen the early years with the complete plastic cladding. This pink example is actually an improvement!

besides Ike, why would anyone here care if they're ugly or not?

I was considering buying an STI over the rx8 for the speed factor. When you see one at a dealer they aren't as bad looking as in pictures (but still not good looking). The large hood scoop and spoiler sort of grab your attention so you don't notice the flaws of its exterior. The interior is nice, but I personally think the 8 is better. The main flaw with the car is I am over 6 feet tall and there is no leg room at the driver's seat when all the way back. The 2 seat convertibles have more room. Even if it had room, I still would have picked the 8 but I can see how they lose customers from it.
|
The Sti looks even worse in my rear view mirror on some TWISTIES!!!

Not sure I'd use the word ugly. As an Sti owner I fully admit, this car is far from sexy, and far from good looking, but ugly seems a bit harsh. I guess as a whole if I look at Subaru itself, they never have made the best looking cars, but they are improving slowly. When I parked my STi next to my rx8, and now my S2000, then yes, I suppose it is ugly both inside and out, but by itself I don't feel that way, yet I can't call this car good looking either. However, if I were going on looks I'd have never bought one to begin with. The way Subarus drive is a thing of beauty, even if they don't exactly look great just standing still. My STI reminds me of the average looking gal that's wild in bed and can rock your world, and just always looks good, as long as it's moving, and you are the one driving it. ;)

The model after the bugeye and before the current one is the only one that i've liked for the impreza. The B9 continues to remain the ugliest car in my mind.

http://www.carbuyersnotebook.com/B9-TRIBECA.jpg I'll have to admit that the nose if the B9 did grow on me...LOL...no pun intended.. :) but I love everything about the vehicle... |
Tribecca tops the Aztek in the ugly department. But then so does the Element. Aztek is #3? Never thought it could happen.

The thing about Subarus is they aren't eye catching or sleek, they have a very purpose built and durable feel to them in just about every way. They are rarely a car that will have instant appeal but tend to get more and more attractive as you examine them and get used to them. |

I'm sorry but I think the Legacy GT looks better than the RX8. New WRX with the snout is hideous though.

YES! An ugly car thread! Here's my list of ass-ugly cars:

Well, some people put more emphasis on looks then others. Generally those people cannot and never will appreciate a Subaru. I actually understand both sides of the coin. I can see how someone like Ike is into cars like this, and I can also see those who take one look at an STI and go OMG, that thing is hideous. I'm somewhere in between both biases. The problem lies that you have such a wonderfully car building company, yet they can't get those missing pieces of puzzle to stand out. It's like take Mazda and Subaru and combine them, and you have basically an incredible looking car with superb performance, build quality, and durability. With that said, before Subaru builds a eye catching and sleek car (may never happen), they need to work on their paint and body. This is by far the worst car I have ever owned regarding body panel strength and paint job. So easy to dent, so easy to scratch, and easy to chip up. I predict a rust bucket with my 100% outdoor STI in about ten years or more. I guess I shouldn't let it bother me, because after all, this is an Impreza, and outside a distinct enthusiast fan base, the Sti is disposable. It's a drive it into ground and junk it car for the most part, and will become a car youngsters buy to beef up and race. I just wish they'd put more time and effort into the STI with their paint jobs, and make it above the base economy Impreza in that regard. ;) |
