I would not consider either one of these "the ultimate japanese supercar", but I voted for the STI anyway. Much better build quality then the EVO, more refined, and a little better grown-up look...

I think you guys know where I voted. The STI is a great car and was the car I was leaning towards for a long time, but the Evo is just too damn good at what these cars are all about. Fun!

When I was shopping for a Miata replacement the Mitsu Dealer's salesman told me an Evo would stop from 60mph in SEVENTY Feet...and would DEMOLISH my mod'd miata in 'handling'. When I asked what he meant by handling he said 'you know...it'd handle better and stuff..."
If ONLY the interior weren't so..blah? Is that the word? If the Interior of the EVO was at least as good as that of the STI, it'd be a more viable choice. I'm old though...so I care about that kinda crap.
You hata.

On a site note. I voted for the EVO as well, even though I own an STI. The sti is a better overall car for daily driving, but I had to be honest even with a car I'd never buy or own, because it's just more of a true raw performer, and iMO it looks a bit nicer. Plus I was trying to help the EVO out, because it's getting owned on this poll.

No doubt, the partiality is so great for the STI, because it's becoming a higher selling , and much more of a commericialized car, and people simply hate on the Mitsubishi name. They are both equal in my book, so this poll is meaningless.

You cant lose with either in terms of performance and everyday usability so really it comes down to looks. For the longest time ive always leaned toward the sti but the new front and roof spoiler on the 06 sti are are just too hidious. so for 06 i have to give the nod to evo. The fact that the interiors are both bad but evo has a leather option and even the new standard interior looks a little better then the past. So evo has my vote.

Did Forbes really call either of these cars "the ultimate japanese supercar" ?
I tried the link but their site was blank for me

Ya know, I was getting interested in the Evo, but then I realized that they put that horrible front end on the IX. Bleh. The VIII's front end looked MILES better. Still got my vote but if I ever got one the first thing I'd do is find an VIII front end.

That's why my choice would be the new STi Limited for '07. It has a nice lip spoiler instead of the park bench or even the WRX wing. Subaru also added leather interior and sunroof (basically the WRX Limited + STi)... the brake calipers are also painted a more subtle black.

Why are Evo forums so crappy and STi forums normal? I still wrench on my Evo with old friends from the SRT-4 days. Most have moved on to bigger and better rides by now but, in general, I wouldn't even want most of the local Evo guys to know where I live. Lots of a-holes and random weirdos. For the most part it's a very cold group.
BTW...these two Evo and STi owners took the Forbes poll to the streets. LMAO!

The only cars to come out of japan I would call "supercars" are (marginally) the Skyline GT-R and the Acura NSX. These are just turbo wagons.
I voted for the STi. The EVO looks better (well, less ugly, at least) but the STi has a better interior, and I think the boxer engine is cool. So it has that edge.

neither car compares to a stock high output rx8. I've driven all three and the 8 is simply numero uno. Especially when racing in the twisties. The evo/sti can keep their cheating turbos with ok gas mileage. Me, I'mma stick with the uber handling of the 8 with its 18 mpg and love it. I put on an intake yesterday and gained 1 mpg and also beat the evo and sti from a dig. We weren't street racing though.....wink, wink.

Wut da F Y'all lookin' @!
I voted Evo! Reason's include me being partial to the Evo based on being a former owner and Mitsu sticking to 2.0l instead of bumping displacement (that is regardless of whether or not Suby did it for driveability or not)! To me the Evo is more of a direct translation of the WRC cars based on the displacement!

I voted Subaru. Really, I like both cars and am sure would be equally happy with either. But if I were to choose which to purchase it would be the STI. I have more faith in Subie as a company than Mitsu.
