dang, thank God you picked that over the toureg, fugliest veedub ever and a potential shop magent/money pit. The Cayenne is awesome, I'd love to have the funds to snag one and mod the buhjeezus out of it and drive around in a super-sleeper...sigh maybe someday

I'm sure the Cayenne handles much better:

But aren't they essentially the same vehicle, with a slightly different exterior and badge?

At least that's what I keep hearing...

No there's alot of differences between the two. I researched before I bought the car. VW got a pretty sweet deal considering that Porsche put alot of work into their Touareg.

They have totally different engines. The Cayenne V6 has a reworked Golf R32 V6, but the S and Turbo have pure Porsche designs.

The suspensions are also very different as well as amenities. I mean I also looked at FX45, but I would have not considered the Murano, if that's what you're getting at.

So I suppose if you wanted a VW with Porsche influence buy the V6 version. The V6 has more VW in it then the other models, but if you buy a Touareg you're not losing out, because that's a great SUV also.

How is the insurance on it? Do they consider it an SUV, or a Porsche 911 jacked up.

Yeah the V10 is a monster, the only way I would get a Touareg or SUV for that matter.

Insurance is 18 more per month than the 8. I wanted the V8 turbo but come on...100 grand?

I have the 4.5L V8. More than enough power. It out accelerated my friends' escalade and range rover pretty easily.

I don't know where you get your figures, but the used cayenne turbos around here go no less than 80 grand and you're out of your mind if you think I'm going to pay that much for USED.

As for the supercharged range rover sport, well I dunno. The guy who has the range rover's brother has the supercharged, maybe we'll give it a go sometime...

Previously enjoyed, shaolin, previously enjoyed

I just saw a couple threads on another forum with a couple used Cayman Turbos going for low to mid 60's. Porsche ain't exactly known for their resale value.

according to kbb.com a used Cayenne Twin Turbo my 2004 with 30,000 miles and mild options in "good" condition runs 76 to 80 grand.

That doesn't seem all that bad to me for resale given that most cars depreciate over 30 percent in their first two years.
