Solution for all those Traffic Light Cameras

I don't know about you guys but all these traffic light cameras in So Cal are getting ridiculous!

Saw this while at the car wash today (Car & Driver magazine) and I was wondering if it would actually work.

Anyone used a product like this before?

They are illegal in most places that uses a lot of speed camera as a REVENUE RISING PROJECTS!

In Melbourne, they cover the law very generally. "You are not allowed to use ANYTHING to disallow proper operations of speed detecting devices"

.... **** :o

Well... in california theres all this controversy of using such speed detecting cameras... 'invasion of privacy" and what not. Hahahah, but.... it's inevitable. So I'll try getting one. How will the cops know that I have one on? And if I get my picture taken, how will they know it was me without knowing my plate number?! MUHAAHAHAHAH

$29 is the price for one of those bottles. The average ticket is about $100, so if it works, it a bargain. Now, someone try it already!

This seems a tiny bit odd to me. The instructions say:

INSTRUCTIONS
03. Let it dry for about 2 hours. Should be good for life!

Then right below it says:
if you buy 5 or more units, an automatic 10% off purchase price will be credited to your account

If a few coats of this stuff is good for life why would I ever need to buy 5 bottles of the stuff? Christmas presents?

actually yea it says that 1 bottle is good for up to 4 plates, so if you have alot of cars you would need more bottles. of course if you have 10 + cars you would take up this discount

Another novel approach would be not running red lights.

It ALSO works for photo radar. I guess another "novel approach" would be not to speed, but we can't all be perfect can we? :p

At least I'm not a red light runner. So I'm not too worried.

i'm highly skeptical that it works. one of the "proof" pictures they use they just overexposed the picture in photoshop. and for some of the supposed night shots, why don't the drivers have their headlights on? more photoshop shennanigans it seems like to me.

and while it wasn't this product, there was a news story here a year or so ago that was about such products, and when a picture was taken you couldn't see the number on the plate. good, ya? well, the cop doing the demo hit a button and inversed the color (made it look like a negative) and the license plate number was very easy to see.

easy way to test it...buy it and then take a picture of your car. personally, i wouldn't waste my money.

We don't have front license plates in Tennessee. So unless those cameras are NSA quality satellite cameras and can see the VIN number.......

Wait...I"ll just cover the VIN number while I'm driving.

Muahahahahahahahaha

Any of you have any old LCD's laying around ( liek from a busted laptop?) just pull out 3-5 polarizing platic sheets inside and put them over your plate. Unless you look at it directly it'll blur out. Same with this kid of crap. I highly doubt any spray on anything will obscur your plat.. and 99% of the time in negative EVERYTHING shows up.

I don't have a front plate on my car, and I’ve been using this stuff on the rear since I've had my rx-8 (almost 2 years already!). It works. I've run so many red lights (inadvertently) and seen the flash go off so many times. The second day I had the stuff on my plate I did do a fun drive just to see if it worked and saw plenty of flashing go off. I’ve gotten one camera speeding ticket, and it was a manned set-up with an extremely powerful camera (right where New York Ave turns into 50/BW Pkwy for locals) but no red light tickets from the automated setups.

^ ****, I was hoping it would work on the photo radar (manned set-up) too That's the only use I'd have for it.

"manned set-up" IMO = A van parked at the side of the road with photo-radar gear in it, taking a picture out of the front windshield.

Here that might be true, but in England they have speed cameras everywhere that radar you, and if they catch you going 1mph over they take a pic and mail the ticket to you by your plate number.
